Binance to halt crypto services for the EU after failing to obtain a MiCA license. Here is what you should do next if you live in the EU.
Mittlerweile ist es offiziell, Binance wird zum 1. Juli 2026 keine MiCA-Lizenz in der EU erhalten und damit wird Binance die Services für EU-User ab 1. Juli stark einschränken müssen.
Das ist heftig, da Binance auch in der EU eine sehr beliebte Börse ist und es ohne Binance in der EU auch schwierig wird, hive gegen Fiat zu traden.
Meine Empfehlung ist für alle EU-User auf eine MiCA-regulierte Börse zu switchen und eure Assets von Binance auf eine der wenigen EU-regulieren Kryptobörsen zu transferieren.
Das könnt ihr jetzt schon machen, wird aber nach dem 1. Juli vermutlich die einzige Option für EU-Nutzer sein. Aktives Trading und Fiat-Überweisungen werden für EU-Nutzer vermutlich nicht mehr möglich sein.
Alternative wäre abzuwarten, ob Binance vielleicht nicht doch noch in den nächsten Monaten eine MiCA-Lizenz in einem anderen EU-Land erhält, aber wetten würde ich nicht darauf. Gerüchten zufolge würde der Antrag auch aus politischen Gründen abgelehnt.
Falls ihre größere Krypto-Positionen bei Binance besitzt, wäre eine weitere Möglichkeit, euch von einem Steuerberater beraten zu lassen. Möglich wäre zum Beispiel eine Gründung einer Asset-Firma außerhalb der EU, offshore, und über diese dann Binance zu nutzen. Aber das hat nur bei einem größeren Portfolio einen Sinn und ist mit einem großen bürokratischen Aufwand verbunden.
Last but not least würde es auch die Möglichkeit geben, einen Wegzug aus der EU oder für manche EU-Bürger, falls das in eurem Land möglich ist, eine Doppelstaatsbürgerschaft in einem krypto-freundlichen Land anzustreben und über diese dann Konten bei Binance anzulegen. Aber auch in diesem Fall wäre eine Konsultation mit einem Steuerberater wichtig, in welchem Land ihr dann die Gewinne versteuern müsst etc.
Hätte nie im Leben gedacht, einmal zumindest theoretisch über einen Wegzug aus der EU nachdenken zu müssen.
Meine klare Empfehlung ist aber, solange ihr noch kein Krypto-Wal seid, eine MiCA-regulierte Börse zu nutzen, damit erspart ihr euch viel Stress, müsst aber auch daran denken, die lokalen Steuern korrekt abzuführen.
Was sagt ihr dazu? Welche Konsequenzen habt ihr wegen MiCA und der zunehmenden Regulierung in der EU gezogen? Würdet ihr sogar einen Wegzug in Betracht ziehen, falls die Regulierung und Steuerlast in der EU für Investoren noch restriktiver werden sollte? Denkt ihr, dass die EU im Bereich FinTech und KI wegen zu viel Regulierung global zurückfallen wird?

It’s now official: Binance will not receive a MiCA license in the EU as of July 1st, 2026, which means Binance will have to significantly restrict its services for EU users starting July 1st.
This is a major blow, as Binance is a very popular exchange in the EU as well, and without Binance in the EU, it will also be difficult to trade Hive for fiat.
My recommendation for all EU users is to switch to a MiCA-regulated exchange and transfer your assets from Binance to one of the few EU-regulated crypto exchanges.
You can do this now, but after July 1st, it will likely be the only option for EU users. Active trading and fiat transfers will probably no longer be possible for EU users.
An alternative would be to wait and see if Binance might still obtain a MiCA license in another EU member state in the coming months, but I wouldn’t bet on it. According to rumors, the application would be rejected for political reasons.
If you hold significant crypto positions on Binance, another option would be to seek advice from a tax advisor. One possibility, for example, would be to set up an asset management company outside the EU, offshore, and then use Binance through that entity. However, this only makes sense for a larger portfolio and involves a significant amount of red tape.
Last but not least, there’s also the option of moving out of the EU or, for some EU citizens, if it’s possible in your country, seeking dual citizenship in a crypto-friendly country and then opening accounts on Binance through that citizenship. But even in this case, it’s important to consult with a tax advisor to determine in which country you’ll need to pay taxes on your gains, etc.
I never in a million years would have thought I’d have to consider, at least in theory, moving out of the EU.
My clear recommendation, however, is that as long as you’re not yet a crypto whale, you should use a MiCA-regulated exchange, this will save you a lot of stress, but you must also remember to pay your local taxes correctly.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
