Not The Author...
And here we go...
We're continuing on with our little #biblejournal series and today we are looking into 1 Corinthians chapter 14.
And this is a can of worms I really thought about before posting and writing it out, so please please please understand...This is all said in love.
There's a few denominations out there, one specifically, that likes to use this chapter and others in the New Testament as proof that we are to...Speaking in gibberish. Or as they call it, speaking in tongues.
And while I would really love to dig into a bunch of proof texts to show why speaking in tongues just means to understand and speak in different languages, I'll let the bible hit the nail in a sure place...
Here's a beautiful truth about God....He's not the author of confusion. Which means, he's not going to get people running around speaking gibberish in the church pews while claiming it's the Holy Spirit. That's confusion. That actually comes from a different gospel.
And I don't just use this verse to show how speaking in tongues is not 'gibberish', I use it a lot to remind myself about the TRUE gospel.
It's not confusing.
God is not trying to make this thing complicated. Repent, believe Christ died for our sins and saves us. Obviously, that's the super abridged version but you know what...The thief on the cross had less to work with than that :)
I mean...I REALLY love this verse:
Getting back to chapter 14....Let's see all the gifts that Paul talks about here:
The gift of tongues, gift of prophecy, gift of interpretation...This entire chapter is about God using us to spread His gospel to the world in unknown and foreign tongues. Along with having the gift to be able to break it down and interpret those same tongues for others.
The is great commission language. This is a call for us to use the talents that God has given us to get His word out to every nation, TONGUE, tribe and people...
And before someone says I'm anti-Holy Spirit, that's not what I'm saying at all. Some of those people in that church are devout Christians and men and women of God. Thankfully our ignorance is winked at and by no means does that make me 'better' than anyone that does believe that the gift of tongues is speaking in 'gibberish'. It's just not biblical from what I can see...
Or is it?
Show me in scripture where you believe this is taught and I'd love to talk about it.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
