Don't Sweat The Small Stuff
Let's get back on our #biblejournal adventure :)
We left off in Chapter 4 of 1 Corinthians a few days ago. And being on the road, I did skip ahead a little bit and have read through a few more chapters in the book. However I didn't get a post done about the journaling experience until tonight.
Let's just say, I've got plenty of content lined up for us to go through :)
My big take away from this chapter is once again, what the world will end up thinking of us as believers. Here's what I wrote down....
So this 'big takeaway' didn't show up until later in the chapter but I found it interesting that this is a theme that Paul seems to be going over at the start of this book quite a bit.
Here is where we see this warning of sorts, emphasized once again...
I always loved that comparison of sorts...
The Jews require a sign (miracles and wonders), but the Greeks seek after wisdom. It has to make sense to them logically.
So we see here, the gospel really doesn't cater to either parties...Or does it?
I think Jesus checks off the boxes for both of them. The gospels are ripe with Christ doing miracle after miracle, yet the Scribes and Pharisees ignored it. Or better yet, tried to. As for the Greeks, I think you can safely say, there was no better wisdom spoken of by anyone ever on earth than Jesus Christ.
The problem is, not that Christ fulfills the 'requirements' for both parties. But rather their hearts are hardened to not see the true beauty of the gospel. And only the Holy Spirit can discern that for us. As seen in previous chapters of 1 Corinthians.
I absolutely love chapter 4 in 1 Corinthians. There is so much wisdom.
But I still picked a different verse to commit to memory and that was Verse 10:
Mainly because of some of the things I have been going through personally as I grow in Christ.
We have a little Discord server (that we'd love for you to join btw) and in it, we can sometimes get into some interesting debates over doctrine. Specifically my very good friend and sister in Christ @waytruthlife13 are fellow believers, and I do think we kind of came back / came to Christ around the same time in our lives....But we disagree on a lot. She doesn't agree with things I hold as truth, and vice versa.
But the big picture is, we believe in Christ. His life, ministry, death and resurrection. And that He died for our sins, and through His righteousness and grace, we are saved!
And this is what this verse meant to me personally...A lot of Christians will disagree on doctrine. But when it comes to salvation, we are on the same page!
And yeah, Paul is talking to a specific church here in Corinth but the message rings true for us today. The little stuff shouldn't divide us as believers. Because we agree, on the SUPER big stuff!
This was a great look for me in the 4th chapter of 1 Corinthians. I pray that you dive into it someday as well and see the rich blessings God has for us in it.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
