I'm coming close to the end of my summer vacation.
And if I'm being brutally honest, I haven't read as much as I had hoped I would. My plans when I began this little time off of mine, was to finish multiple books and get very close to finishing my 'bible in a year' reading plan.
The past few days though, I have really tried to step things up and I finished a great book on #apologetics called Tactics by Gregory Koukl
And got through a bunch if chapter in my reading plan as well.
Yesterday I came across Psalms 78 and it literally stopped me in my tracks...
And if you know about the story of the Exodus, you'll know what the psalmist was referencing. For those not in tune to the story, it loosely went like this...
When the Israelites were in the wilderness after leaving Egypt, God rained 'manna' down from heaven to feed them. Manna was basically, angel's food as we see from verse 25 of Psalm 78.
The people weren't happy and started complaining to God....
Re-read that sentence and try to understand that these are the same people, that with their own eyes, saw God part the red sea. And protect them from the armies of the Egyptians. And now God is feeding rhem with the food He provided for ANGELS....
And here they were....Never happy.
Even those the manna filled them and kept them alive and very healthy, they complained and were never really...Full.
I think of this and at first you can be just angry at this story because...How could they treat God like this? The provider and creator of all?
Sadly, this hits home for many people in today's day and age.
And I'll use myself as a prime example!
I have a great job, a healthy family filled with love, there is food on my table yet...God isn't always a priority for me.
I want more. I have manna coming from heaven daily, yet I'm never full.
Oh wretched man that I am....Paul was onto something there.
And this isn't meant to be a pity party at all, in fact it's being written for my own benefit and I hope someone reading it gets a wake up call as well.
We are truly blessed.
Blessed beyond words and as Peter says in 1 Peter chapter 2....
A royal priesthood. A chosen generation.
Yet...We are never full. Always wanting more. And more of the things that never seem to help us in life.
So my challenge, to myself, is to never be full of a different kind of manna...
Jesus is that living manna. The bread of life is the Word. And we need more of Him, and less of ourselves.
My goal and prayer is that I drink deeply from His bible. I spend more time remembering how blessed I am, and how much more time I should be spending with Him.
And while we may complain and forget the blessings that we have in this life, just remember that He provides everything we need. True bread from heaven's bakery. Every day. And that's some very good news indeed!

Hello everyone I hope you are all good and well today in this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive π by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters
Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars

I read the bible many years ago and many other texts. Proverbs was my favourite chapter and St.Paul's letters.
It's good that you are reading and suggest widening your list to include some of these below.
Buddhism is a fascinating read as is the Koran and Taoist teachings. They all have interesting ideas.
Basically they are all conduct of life lessons.
The lesson here is.
Be grateful for whatever you have and you will never want.

I grew up around pretty much every religion you could possibly imagine. I even grew up secular and was never in a church at all. So I researched it all. Read plenty of the Qu'ran, did a lot of diving into Buddhism as well. Spent many of days on the corner of downtown Toronto, building and talking with lots of different faith preachers.
It comes down to what is truth. And if I go by what the bible says, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. So everything else falls short in my measuring stick. God winks at ignorance, so I don't think 'only my faith is saved'. But logically, I cannot believe anything else.
I had the opposite experience.
Raised in the Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church by the age of 11.
I questioned everything I had been taught. The brainwashing didn't stick.
Priests and Nun's couldn't answer the simplest of questions from a child like me so they resorted to gaslighting me.
Calling me a doubting Thomas and that I must rely on my faith which rapidly evaporated as I saw through the nonsense.
My childish question was for example
They had no answer except for their sons were Cane and Able and they also had daughters.
So basically Adam and Eve spawned an incestuous family and a murderer. Not very Christian I would argue.
As for your statement.

There is zero evidence of a divine creator or of Jesus Christ.
Reading scripture is fine as long as you acknowledge that all of it was written mostly by man...even the Koran.(this is how it was spelt when I read it a long time ago. Qu"ran is the modern spelling (2010) in the USA)
All of these books come from a much older text.
I hope you get some solace from your faith. I know it helps some people and I know a few of them.
Personally I do not believe in anything blindly.
That's why I'm on a trust less platform. No faith or trust required.
We have seen where blind belief lead to, far to many times. Hitler, Trump etc.

A fun discussion for sure. And I'm sorry to hear your experience in the Catholic church was so rotten. Sadly, that was an experience a lot of people had. But I am a Protestant Christian, and stay as far away as Catholicism as I can....For reasons you mentioned.
Have you heard of the epic of gilgamesh? It tells all the same stories as the bible etc. Floods, angry gods and a creation story.
This text predates the bible et al by 1200 years. Worth a read if you get the chance.
As for science getting it wrong there have been countless times when what was thought to be true turned out not to be so.
However the difference between believing something is true and being able to test is something if true is where science and belief separate.
People believed that the world was flat until someone sailed around it.

Right but that's not what you claimed...Your claim is, the bible was written by man and that means its faulty. Same reasoning with any piece of literature or science book in history. It's either, everything is false or there is truth in what man has written.
But as for my faith, I also consider Scripture to be the revealed Word of God and we see 2 Peter 1:21. Written by men, inspired by God.
Well aware of all the pagan history and claim of Christ was from ancient false religions. Like I mentioned above, I did my homework. I did not come to the faith blindly, and I had no baggage when God came knocking.
It's not my claim but the factual work of countless theologians who know the history of the bible and how it was compiled from disparate sources over the centuries.
Of course it is flawed as everything man made is flawed and faulty. The contradictory nature of the four gospels show us that alone
The current bible was put together in the 14th century. That's a long way from it's alleged origin and even further if you consider the epic of gilgamesh.
Sources were from oral stories as well as some early writings of the apostles. Most of the accounts of Jesus were transmitted orally and it was over a hundred years after his alleged existence that someone decided to write it down.
I've met many priests who privately don't believe a word of the bible but like the ideas contained within.
Remember the Muslims also claim that their holy book was dictated by God to Muhammad.
Coincidence? I think not.
Jesus Christ is a fascinating idea and it's a shame people don't follow the teachings that are ascribed to him whether or not he existed. There are good lessons to be learned.

Absolutely! Thank God there were witnesses. And the fact that the 'contradictions' of the gospels is there, actually proves the validity of Scripture. Even the contradictions aren't because of the bible, but because of man's translations and understandings.
Yeah Roman Catholicism isn't the greatest example of truth filled faith.
And yet, the Qu'ran says the Hebrew bible is doctrine and that the injeel is legit. So even their holy text confirms scripture. :)

Completely agree with these statements because you are right...Christianity as a whole is misrepresented by...Fallen human beings. Which shows us the need for a Savior because we are all sinners.
