Sunday morning run | 25 km

Hi all!

Welcome to my #running blog! Sunday early morning’s are my favorite time to run a longer distance. For today I envisioned to run roughly 25 - 30 km at a lower zone 3 pace. The run today was fun, but also turned out to be a bigger challenge than I expected as some of the blisters from last weeks trail opened halfway during the run. While I did manage to continue the run and finish the 25 km - It was quite difficult also because I tried a new route that was shorter than I expected - so while my feet where hurting I needed to add a few extra loops (+5km) while I was already close to house.

I tried a new route today, running alongside Rotterdam Airport and parallel to the highway Rotterdam <=> The Hague. Actually having to cross the highway at one point. Luckely it was quite early and no one was around.

The route was interesting as you had the highway on your left hand and some nature on the right. But after 12km I had enough of it and wanted to run in a greener area again. While I didn’t enjoy the view as I normally do - it was a very good route for attempting a PR on the 5km as it was both flat aswell there was only one turn in the entire route. So I will try this part some other time again!

After feeling the blisters playing up, I slowed down a little, where I did the first 12km around 4:45 min / km, I varied between 5:00 - 5:30 / km in the second half. While I wasn’t going to cut any corners I did pick a route for the last 7.5 km that I can run with my eyes closed. Unpaved high grass where there is plenty distractions from little pains

Closed the week with 56 km total.

Happy running
