Fun run on MTB tracks

IMG_1699.jpeg

After some morning cycling to and from appointments I had just enough time left to do a short (but fun) run to enjoy the weather before heading to an afternoon appointment.

With the harder workout yesterday (that resulted in new PR’s on shorter distances), I decided to pick a nice mountainbike path close to where I normally do my hill repeats.

The paths are more technical compared to road work and include some jumps and short climbs / descends but mostly they are just fun and provide nice views.

As mentioned earlier my current pair if road shoes are very much due for replacement. I should be getting my new pair tomorrow (again saucony omni 22) and I decided that with my next salary I will look to add a 4th pair to the mix as my main non racing shoe (Saucony Endorphine 4) as that model should be closing the gap between my road shoes and race shoe. This would get my a new setup:

  • Monday: easy run / rest if needed; saucony omni 22
  • Tuesday: main training (interval / threshold / marathon pace blocks) Saucony Endorphine 4
  • Wednesday: recovery run - Saucony Omni 22
  • Thursday: easy run - Saucony omni 22
  • Friday: zone 3 run - Saucony Endorphine 4
  • Saterday: easy run + strides - Saucony omni 22
  • Sunday: trail / hill repeats - Salomon Sense Ride 5

That way I can keep the Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris for race days and baseline runs.

Nice job, that was one very complicated looking route you had mapped out there. The unexpected climbs and jumps are a great way to prepare for the real marathon coming up. It looks like a greet day for a run with some nice paths and surrounding nature. It sounds like you enjoyed it, and that's what counts the most!

Keep up the great work!
