Does your witness vote still count ?
You may wonder why i ask , well i started a witness myself and i guess when you only post you tend to lose the intrest of what a witness does and what happend to your vote.
After all you have 30 votes that you can use , and once you have done that you can forget all about it , or not ?
It turns out that a lot of people think that way or are no longer active on Hive.
And it's already hard to pick if you see hardly any difference... It's just like picking buttons in a button store they al do the same in the end .
Because i started my own witness i was wondering how i was doing in the ranks , still need to do my first block but , I was shocked about the amount witness servers that have been offline for more then 3 months and still get votes from people .
If you go to https://peakd.com/me/witnesses
and select in the filters on the right Disabled/Stale you will see something like this :
If you happen to see a blue V mark at the end of a row that means that you are voting for a dead witness and your vote is lost .
To double check if the witness is indeed offline check the column Last Block, some might show a 0 like in the picture below , the are either new or have just upgraded the witness for the new Hardfork that is coming on 19 November 2025
And as soon as my witness received it's first block my server version will also show 1.28.3 ready for the hardfork .
You can actualy already see if a witness is ready for the Hardfork or not .
The top row with 1.28.3 is ready for the hardfork , the witness with a red dot is not active last block done a year ago and still has 4.5 miljon HP votes ..... wasted .

Now i'm not going to tell you where to put your vote instead , I'm sure you are adult enough to figure that out by yourself .

I'm glad you brought this to people's attention. Because it infuriates me to see so many votes wasted on inactive witnesses.
It would be nice if frontends did a witness check every time we logged in. To alert us to inactive witness votes. Or less than 30 votes. In lieu of that, I set a repeating calendar reminder to check my witness and Hive Engine votes.

I regularly check on the witnesses I have voted for. I like them to be active and working for Hive, but this is a very good reminder for many others to check on their witnesses. I didn't know you were now a witness. You have my vote! Without a doubt! Thank you!🤗

Good post! One more thing to mention is that some witnesses have been not only dead and inactive, but actually harmful to the Hive blockchain as they are no longer running but they are enabled and get put into the rotation.
When their turn comes the blockchain waits for a certain time and then they miss the block and their block is passed on to the next scheduled witness. This creates a delay on Hive block processing and is not a good thing.
So you should really remove your vote from those types of witnesses and you will be helping Hive blockchain run more smoothly. By the way, Hive Hard Fork 28 will not fix this problem it is likely to make the problem worse as those who will not upgrade in time will start missing blocks, only you as a voter can fix this.
Here is an example of the witnesses that are missing blocks for years now:
Cryptobrewmaster has been missing all blocks for 380 days now and it is still fairly high ranked at 91st position
Hiq.witness has missed all block for the last 252 days (mouse over the block number and it will tell you when last block was validated)
