Venezuela.

Where light shines brightest in the darkness.

If you walk through the streets of beautiful Venezuela today, you may come across some dilapidated facades and that inevitable visit to many, but you can also find that deep imprint of an economy that challenges human resilience. This is undeniable, as the country is going through a long night, a decline that hurts the soul and has tested our capacity for survival, our politics, and our social structure.

That is why we pause beyond the headlines to observe something extraordinary. You can discover that the heart of Venezuela not only beats but roars!

The true reality of Venezuela is not measured solely by economic indicators but by the smile of that neighbor who, despite not having everything, shares his coffee. It is measured by our culture, which is made up of an unlikely mixture of resilience and joy. That is what makes us joke even when our pockets are empty.

• How is it possible that a people under so much pressure still has the warmth of a sincere embrace?
• Where do we get the ability to reinvent ourselves ten times in a single day?

The answer to this is easy, as it is found in your presence. We are a people who have learned that hope is a passive trait of our mothers. All courage is Venezuelan today. It is an exercise in dignity to get up every morning and decide that even though our surroundings try to extinguish our light, we have always been the torch.

To those of you who see us from the outside or those who continue to fight from within, you cannot have a gray outlook because history has taught us that peoples who have already known the deepest pain have a capacity for reconstruction and a human quality that is not taught in any university.

Our culture, our music, our cuisine, and our way of seeing life are testimony that we are greater than any crisis.

I want to tell all those who have done this that you must not ignore reality, but you also cannot let it define who you are, because decline is circumstantial, but your capacity to love and be kind, Venezuela, is not just a crisis. Venezuela is urgent. As long as there is one Venezuelan reaching out to another, and as long as we continue to tell our stories with that sparkle in our eyes, the country will remain alive.
