Short interval session

While it has been only 5 days I feel ready to have some fun. Earlier this week my body reacted positive on some hill training. Today I focussed on 300m interval training.

While 300m interval is not the distance you would incorporate for marathon training (traditionally that is 800, 1200, 1600 or 2400m repeats) this felt a good compromise between having fun and not too much additional stress on the legs. Furthermore I cut back on both the total training distance aswell as the number of reps. The primary goal was to just have some fun today. But intervals will be a key component in my 2026 season as I aim to drive my lactate threshold to 3:50 / km (now 4:08 /km) that way I should be able to maintain 4:16 / km without being dependent on perfect weather conditions.

My session today was a foggy one which is something I can always appreciate!

Looking at my run stats, the intervals seemed to go rather consistent which was a good sign for my recovery status.

But I also noticed that I should had taken a little longer recovery runs in between reps (and include a warmup 😅). So I will probably create the next interval session in garmin workouts again.

During last weekends run I talked with an other runner from Rotterdam that told me there is an open track field available that is worth exploring for interval. I will try to explore that option during next weeks interval session!

Happy running

Running in the fog has indeed its fashion... And exploring new tracks is also good even just for a change

Love how you’re combining fun with serious training. Exploring new spots sounds exciting too.
