[Movie] For Night Will Come (En attendant la nuit) by @jcrodriguez

image.png

What an interesting film, especially as the director is portraying part of her own life and her brother’s experiences there, even though the genre is a blend of horror, science fiction and romance. It’s a really good combination, by the way. I really like it when horror has that romantic touch. But the film also addresses teenagers’ need for acceptance, which is a very topical issue, although not in quite the same way as the film portrays it, so it conveys a powerful message about today’s society.
I’m not really keen on overly commercial films either; they don’t convey any message, whereas European cinema is much better.

The Peel Mortuary Chapel . Overton. by @grindle

image.png

You’ve no idea how much I love and am fascinated by cemeteries, especially if they’re old, and I find this place you’ve shown us absolutely captivating: from the original entrance gate, which is so beautiful, to the funeral chapel, as well as every gravestone entwined with the vegetation and the stories that lie there. People in those days died very young; many diseases were unknown and so went untreated, and often no one knew what people were dying of. And that place is ideal for mystery stories. I love details like that bunch of grapes on one of the gravestones… and the ‘nocturnal poet’, it can blend both horror and romanticism.

Senja Pagi, A Cafe That Sells You The Fantasy of Village Life by @macchiata

I’m on your team, I’m the kind of person who takes their laptop along on every family outing, hahaha. Hi Mac! It’s great to say hello and read this. Wow, that place really had a lot to offer; it looks like it was one surprise after another from the moment you arrived. There’s talk at my job about going to Asia to sing next year—it’s still too early to know if it’s actually happening, but posts like this get me really excited, since the views, that dish, and, of course, the coffee all look so promising.

Para mí, la mayor incertidumbre que hoy vivimos los cubanos/For me, the greatest uncertainty that we Cubans are experiencing today. by @ibcabrera

image.png

It's amazing what I've read here. In a way, I know the situation, and I've actually lived through similar moments in my own country, but never on the scale of Cuba. Life is very strange; I can see it more clearly every day. I understand that we fall into this hope that everything will get better. We can do nothing but cling to it and try to improve ourselves, both economically and mentally, even though we know that many died waiting to see those better times... It's a good catharsis, brother, and our blogs are perfect for releasing all those uncomfortable feelings we carry inside.

El esfuerzo de un campesino en tiempos difíciles [ESP // ENG] by @yonnathang

image.png

What extraordinary photographs, my brother! You have a great eye for capturing the best scenes nature offers. Furthermore, the story struck me as very profound, perhaps because we understand the effort it takes to build a life in our own country and with our own business. This post certainly makes you think, very good.

🎵 Hive Open Mic 333 - “Sober"🎵 - PATRIA CHICA - Coversong by @italozapata by @italozapata

This is an impeccable musical performance, bravo! It's always a pleasure when he appears in our community and shares the best of Venezuelan folklore with us. Reynaldo Armas is the performer of most of my favorite llanera songs; the other is Maestro Simón Díaz. Thank you for sharing it on HGive Open Mic; a big hug from afar to you...
