Who do we Blame?

An image generated with AI

If you are living in a place where you have all the amenities available to you, you have free electricity, free water and free internet access you need to be grateful for the privilege you have been given. Many people around the world lack access to these basic amenities and their absence contribute largely to why a lot of people remain trap in the circle of poverty.

We you heard that majority of people living in the third world countries are poor, one obvious reason for their poverty is the lack of access to basic amenities. It's not that they don't make money or work hard to make ends meet but rather they spend most of their money to get those basic amenities since the government failed to provide them for the citizens.

Basic amenities like electricity and water are like scarce resources in most places in my country. Imagine a place where there has been no electricity for over a year and people have to rely on generators to power their homes which cost a fortune in fuel expenses every month. Those who cannot afford generators spend more money charging their phones and other devices at commercial charging centers which is more costly and time consuming.

Imagine someone earning less than 100 dollars a month spending nearly a dollar a day to charge their phones and other devices at a charging center daily and even those who have generators at their homes still have to spend a significant amount of money to fuel the generator in a month. This is one of the reasons why most people living in developing countries struggle to save money to break out of poverty.

The circle becomes self perpetuating, and without savings people cannot invest invest in businesses that might lift them out of poverty. Instead of blaming the poor for their circumstances, we must recognize that it's the government that has failed to provide them. By not providing those basic infrastructure, the government keep people trapped in poverty.

In most places, there are no water supply system, and people have to travel long distance to get water at wells and bore holes at higher price. Tap water system is something people can only read about in books or see on social media. This is to tell you how much people are passing through just to get access to clean water. And you know what that means? It means much money is spent on water alone which further drain their limited resources and make it even harder to escape poverty.

I'm curious.
How much would either solar cells or a small wind mill/turbine cost?

It makes good sense that it works like a vicious circle, trapping people inside it.
