Rental Reality Check
What I thought would be a less complicated move has became a lesson on renting the hard way. After the payment was made, it took almost two weeks before the legal papers were signed, and keys delivered to me. I checked in for the last to inspect the apartment for the last time before moving in, but it turned out to be not as good as I had thought.
The interior was the first thing to bash my expectations. Even though the exterior was still quite nice, the apartment was a little disaster for the neglect it had shown with its damaged walls and old fixtures. The bathroom became my biggest concern as well with the old plumbing system that was barely working.
My excitement for relocation however, were soon to change into a huge renovation project. From new walls painting, plumbing changes to the outdoor space that was getting out of hand, I was pouring a great deal of time and money into a property that did not belong to me. This was a pain to me.
The most annoying thing was not the work itself in a frustrating way but it was the feeling of how these problems were almost totally hidden due to the way the house agent conduct himself during the viewings. Every repair check only remind me that I was upgrading someone else's property instead of mine.
Going through this experience ignited in me a crucial insight: renting is full of hidden charges that can go way beyond the monthly rent. It also became the turning point of my decision to take my own building project seriously, where not only every renovation but every single thing would be a step towards my future.
For those who are thinking about renting, I would like you to learn from my experience, and to check and double-check the building appearance, not much on the exterior, but the interior. Check out the plumbing, and walls conditions very well. Sometimes the most beneficial lessons come from the most difficult experiences, and this incident had a profound effect on my viewpoint about property investment.

Lesson learned though the hard way. I won't make such mistake ever again.
How are you moving forward? Will you work on the neglected repairs and maintenance or just look for another place?
Also, if the conditions presented where different from the reality you should have sufficient ground to break the contract amd get (parts) of your payment back.
Good luck

Yes, I have to work on the repair and expect some compensation from the house owner which is not guaranteed because I have paid already, it would take a long time before I can get the money.
