One of the realities that run true through not only Hive, but also through lots of web/social media in general is that gamification works! And HiveBuzz is a form of gamification for everyone... and one constant truth in life is that people (whether they admit to it, or not) love to see their name on a list.
Why do you think weekend 10K races measure and publish the names of all runners, even though we only really "need" to know about maybe the top 10? Why do old-fashioned forums give members "badges" and "titles," depending on their levels of activity?
One of the "problems" we have on Hive is that most developers (a) don't live in the same world as the rest of us, and (b) don't tend to have strong backgrounds in human psychology.
