Unexpected Twists and Turns

It's crazy to think that it's been a week since we hopped in the car to head down to Virginia. I feel like it was just yesterday, but I also feel like it has been ages since we went. The whole weekend was a bit of a whirlwind, and to be honest, I am still unpacking all of my time spent down south. I'm going to share some more of my photos from the ride down to Virginia in this post to commemorate the trip.

Actually, I was just texting with my niece last night because she had a game on Wednesday night, so I wanted to know how it went. It turns out on Wednesday night she hit the first home run of her university career! I wish we could have been there to see it, but I am sure there will be more, so maybe next time. I am so proud of her!

The markets have been busy doing the things that markets do. I'm not even sure how to tackle all the feelings this current cycle is giving me. I'm getting pretty close to indifference at this point. All of the hope I had for this epic bull run has been dashed to pieces far too many times over the past couple of months.

What I do know this that projects continue to build in the background, including HIVE. While that might not equate to massive windfalls right now, I have to believe that somewhere down the road these tokens that are just plugging along doing their own thing are going to have their day. It might not be fireworks, but hopefully it will be a sustained passive income that I can not drop the ball and take advantage of.

Fingers crossed!

Precious Metals

As many have posted about already, the price of silver and gold has dropped over the past week or so. I'm getting close to the point where I need to start making some buys for Christmas, so I am kind of happy that silver is down below $50 again. Who knows how long that might last...

You might remember a week or so ago I wrote a post about the treasure hunt that KZoo Bullion is doing. They are hiding 3oz silver bars across the (48 lower) United States. If you find one, there is a QR code on the back you can scan to be entered into a drawing for a 1 Kg bar. They started in Minnesota and they have been slowly working their way across the country.

As of yesterday, the Idaho, Montana, and Washington bars were still hidden. I doubt it will remain that way for very long. The Minnesota and Wisconsin bars were found within hours of being hidden.

You can follow along with the treasure hunt by following this link

A Bit of Charity

I recently decided to take some gains I have made over on Hive-Engine and use them to donate some SBI shares to a few authors on HIVE who I think are consistently putting out good content on a regular basis. This was hard because sometimes I follow people who put out a lot of good stuff, but then they have an occasional short low effort post.

While I don't disagree with their right to put out a low effort post occasionally, I wanted to respect the spirit of @steembasicincome and donate my shares to folks who go the extra mile. Hopefully I typed all of them correctly in the memo field...

@dbooster, @sanjeevm, @steemflow, @cryptictruth, @ericvancewalton, and @tegolotodo, keep an eye on your wallet for those HSBI shares to show up.

Full disclosure, these shares were donated via my @bozz.sports account.

Travala and X

At the beginning of the quarter, Travala opened their contributor tasks so that people who stake the token can earn some more AVA. It's pretty simple, you just have to post a couple things to X and then at the end of the event you earn about 50 to 100 tokens (based on my staking tier). Well, shortly after I made my posts to X, I got an alert that my X account was temporarily suspended for "spamming".

It's funny because I hardly ever use my X account. In fact, the only thing I use my X account for anymore is to do these posts for Travala. Perhaps that was the issue. Did they see this sudden "flurry" of activity as odd behavior. Seriously though, it was only like 5 to 10 posts or retweets in a couple hour period. That seems pretty mundane to me.

Especially when you consider there are folks out there doing regular Tweet storms or whatever they call them now that it is "X".

Stocks and Other Stuff

I'm not going to talk about anything else here. My NuScale stock is down though I think it will recover. CHEX is way down, and I am actually starting to question whether or not that will do what I had hoped it would do. It's starting to feel a bit like WAX. There is zero reason it shouldn't be a $1 token all day every day, and yet here we sit at sub $.10 levels.

Kind of how HIVE is. There is zero reason we shouldn't be a much higher valued token.

The good news is, we keep building. I saw a Tweet last night about some of the stuff that is being developed and I have to admit, it is very exciting. Perhaps one day soon our time will come!

Thanks for the HSBI shares, I have had high expectations this time, never thought we would go this low. Some people are even telling we can go to just 1 cent and collapse, but there is no way we can do anything. On the positive side I saw a post saying Hive is now EVM compatible, like ETH and others, so that may help the price, but let's see. I remember about AVA, missed the opportunity to invest couple of years back, is it doing well ?

No, you didn't really miss much with AVA. If you travel a lot it could have been beneficial, but the token price is still down very low. I don't think HIVE will collapse, but sometimes just moving along in a rut is worse than failing. I still have high hopes for HIVE.

Just make sure you convert $ 1,000 Hive per month to Bitcoin and you will be very happy in a few months .

I don't think I even come close to that!

That was quite a ride of updates from family moments to markets and crypto! Congrats to your niece on her first home run and props to you for sharing SBI to fellow creators that is what true Hive spirit looks like. I agree the building continues even if prices don’t reflect it yet. One day Hive will shine brighter again

Thank you! It's been a crazy week! I hope HIVE can see brighter days like we have in the past. Something sustained and not just a flash in the pan!

Keep stacking that Hive and HBD … it adds up to a lot of Bitcoins eventually. You will soon be a Bitcoin Billionaire like the rest of us.

I have been trying to tell people to convert 99% of their Steem, Blurt and Hive into Bitcoin for the last 8 years. Only a few people ever listened. Most people just downvoted me to zero. Which is kind of funny.

When HIVE first started I powered down most of my STEEM and I would say about half of it I moved over into BTC. It's still sitting there in a hardware wallet

Your Virginia trip is a whirlwind but full of memories to savor. Huge congrats to your niece on hitting her first home run. Your donation of SBI shares is such a thoughtful way to support creators who go the extra mile.❤️

Thank you for that @bozz! I appreciate it. You're definitely in the category of solid Hive content creators now. I feel like my readership and engagement have both waned quite a bit in this past year. The tide of Hive is changing and that's normal, good, and healthy for the platform. It's been an amazing ride for me!

This market is enough to make you crazy. For me staying sane throughout the ups and downs has taken all the lessons learned from past cycles. I no longer trust any influencers except one and am paying much closer to investor sentiment now than price predictions.

Thanks, I appreciate that! Things have definitely died off a bit, but I think that isn't bad. It helps me keep up with things a bit more. It's almost a full time job actively engaging and stuff here when the place is hopping. I don't tend to listen to a lot of stuff I see on X and places like that, but I do have a small group of people I kind of trust. Even though they have been mostly wrong this cycle... :)

You're welcome! It's been noticeable but things typically cool off on the platform a bit in the fall, especially after HiveFest. It's good not to listen to the influencers, that makes the roller coaster ride so much worse. Watching actions and sentiment are so much better!

Too bad you couldn't be there to see that homerun hit be your niece! The first of her college career, it must have felt great! I love your pictures of the rolling hills of Virginia and the all the bridges... It's been a lot of years since I've been back east. I really do kind of miss it!

Good for you giving out some charitable HSBI units, always a great thing to do! Putting them on your alt account is great way to built up that daily vote, very smart move!

KZoo metals are planting those bars pretty fast. I'm sure the California one will come soon, but too far for me to drive! lol

SMR will go back up, I'm not worried about that. I do hope they pick up some of those military base contracts though, that would drive the price through the ceiling! As for X, they suspend people all the time, I don't even have an account anymore, they are just so much work... Enjoy your weekend, did you winterize the camper yet or is that part of this weekend's plans?

I got the camper winterized and moved back to my parents for storage on the Monday that we got back from Virginia. It's nice to have that all taken care of. I was hoping it might free up my weekends a bit, but they are still crazy busy! I was going to throw some HSBI units your way, but I saw you already had quite a few, so this round I wanted to focus on some users that didn't have as many. I'm sure I missed a few though. Hopefully I can do another round soon!

I have plenty of HSBI units, I'm not lacking in that department! lol Don't worry about that! Glad you got that all taken care of, I hope this weekend is a little more "chill". Maybe even watch a little college football!

You can't beat a bit of volatily to make some money or losses as the case may be! The metals had a bit of a correction, who knows what next week will bring lol!

Yeah, they could double or something crazy like that!

I think we have not seen the top for Gold or Silver in this current bull run. Silver is always behind gold price wise, so I would not be surprise if after this current correction we go much higher and hit $100+ before a steep decline back to something like $40...

Getting suspended on Twtr/whatever is funny considering how downhill that platform went. I don't even see it these days. I can't be bothered with Bluesky either. It's open and decentralised platforms for me these days.

I'm also not too bothered about other crypto. I'll support others on Hive and they can do what they want with their rewards. We can't afford to be too picky about who uses it.

I only use BlueSky for the posh initiative that is here on HIVE.

One of these days I would love to just drive around that area in autumn. Maybe when I retire. Beautiful photos!

Thanks for the HSBI!

I think they are still a little behind. I have a feeling in another couple of weeks things will really start to pop down there.
