According to Open the Books, in the budget there are absurd and unimaginable items: 5 million in Apple devices, millions for Alaskan king crab and lobster, 15 million in steaks, 124 thousand dollars for ice cream machines, 139 thousand dollars for donut orders, 225 million in furniture, and the cherry on top, a 98 thousand dollar Steinway grand piano for the residence of the Air Force Chief of Staff.

And all this while inflation is galloping and employment is falling, the cost of living is rising, food prices are skyrocketing and there is talk of cuts to SNAP food assistance.

And now, with the war in Iran and an ever-worsening economic climate, these expenses are not just insane: they are a direct insult to all citizens who are not rich. It is a clear message: the government’s priority is not the well-being of citizens, but the luxury of those already protected by million-dollar salaries and dream residences, they are either acting in bad faith or completely disconnected from reality.

And to think that these billions are money taken from those who are hungry, who cannot get medical care, who are paying the highest price of inflation. How many things could be done to help citizens and instead they show arrogance and indifference toward real suffering.

And there are those at the Pentagon playing the piano in their residence eating lobsters and steaks while millions of Americans do not even have a piece of bread.
