All The Feels!

Feelings.
We have them! Sometimes we share them a little bit too much, I know from experience lol
No one can tell you how to feel. That's up to you to decide. Things get thrown at you all the time in this life things and I think that's part of the human experience...Learning how to deal with your feelings and protecting your heart throughout your life. Have you ever had a broken heart? Oh wow, it sucks....
Anyways without getting too 'feely' in this post, I think I personally can learn alot from what Proverbs 4:23 states...

Oh wow, I'm not joking when I say that the book of Proverbs, is the greatest personal development book in history.
The "Proverbs Men & Women" graphic reads it that we should 'guard our hearts', but let's take a deep dive into this verse and maybe check out another translation...
I do like the New Living Translation for this verse as it really brings the point him. It reads "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." Think about this for a minute.....
What usually comes from out of the heart? I'd say a feeling like passion....And yeah there are many more, but let's run with this for an example. Passion can be a great thing, but it can also get you into trouble. You are passionate about an opinion, maybe dare I say, a church doctrine you hold near and dear to your...Heart!
Someone challenges you, maybe debates you about what you believe and your passion begins to ignite....
You start getting frustrated that they don't see your point of view. Anger starts to appear in the way you are talking (down) to them. You have opened your heart and it's gotten you into trouble.
Because look at the second part of that verse.....'For it determines the course of your life'.
This isn't saying that putting your heart and soul into something isn't a good thing. If it's of good report (Phil. 4:8) we are taught to focus and think on these things. But there are times when our heart can lead us down a path that God never intends....
Speaking 1000000000000% from personal experience here too, especially with that example above.
The heart is deceitful. We know this from Scripture. So we are told to guard it!
It's truly remarkable the lessons and nuggets this book has within it's pages, and I'm not even talking about the whole bible. I'm just referring to this almost 3000 year old book lol
I hope you guys are enjoying the #kingdomproverbs series. The next few verses that are coming, truly can change your life :)

It is simple to let our enthusiasm affect our decisions, but understanding that we must protect our hearts is a crucial lesson.
Thanks for stopping by!
A very insightful reflection. Emotions in themselves aren’t bad, but without awareness they can easily take the wheel and lead us to places we never intended to go. “Guard your heart” feels especially relevant today — particularly in a world full of impulses, arguments, and quick reactions. Thank you for this reminder; it really gives one pause and invites reflection.
Thats exactly it. What we do with those emotions, is what matters
I for one,I am really enjoying the #kingdomproverbs series.Proverbs 27:17 states,Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. So @jongolson ,I am always elated when I see your Proverbs series update.
Now back to the subject of discourse,
Heart, here means the core of a person's will, emotions, and intellect—not just feelings, but the command center directing moral and spiritual life.
Guard, translates to active protection, like a sentinel at a fortress gate, requiring constant vigilance against sin"Everything we do flows from it" compares the heart to a spring: pure water yields life-giving streams, while pollution spreads corruption, as Jesus echoed in Matthew 15:18-19 and Luke 6:45.
Practical Application, we should fill our heart with Scriptures through daily reading and meditation to renew the mind (Psalm 119:11).Reject harmful inputs like gossip, immorality, or envy by fleeing temptation (Proverbs 4:14-15; 2 Timothy 2:22).
Hence we are to pray 🙏 always for God's peace to stand guard.
Lastly,a guarded heart produces godly words, wise choices, and enduring joy, blessing family and community.Neglect invites spiritual death.
Great stuff sir, fantastic references!

The Bible says, "the word I speak to you, they're spirit, they're life"
The word of God is specialiy a teacher.
God by this statement means we his people should read the word constantly which warrants cleancing always.
It's our duty to abide by it. God's words are profitable.
Amen and amen!!
Thank you very much @jongolson.
A happy and beautiful new year to you and your family.

I think sometime in 2009, someone also told me about Proverbs as the best book when it comes to personal development.
