My second option would be easier to explain, and perhaps more complex to live by. If I could redesign one thing, I'd avoid lies. But it wouldn't be a world of silent monks. I think I'd make a small concession, because I'm a realist and I know that family life sometimes needs a little duct tape to keep from falling apart completely. I'd allow those little white lies between parents and children, between siblings, between couples who've been together for thirty years. The "no, honey, this sauce turned out the same as always" when you know it's burnt. I'd keep that.

But outside the front door, nothing. Zero lies. It would be a world without deceptive advertising, without politicians promising what they'll never deliver, without journalists who distort reality to curry favor with those in power. No one could say "it wasn't my fault" if it was. No one could feign love they don't feel for convenience. No one could sell empty promises.

At first, it would be chaos. Businesses would collapse, false friendships would crumble, and marriages built on half-truths would end. But after the initial shock, what remained would be authentic. Talking to someone would be truly reliable. You would read a news story and know it was true. You'd sign a contract without needing lawyers, because what's said is done.

It would certainly be a more uncomfortable world. Because lies often protect us from the harsh reality of what others think of us. But it would also be a cleaner world. Where what you see is what you get. Where wars might not even start, because no one could lie about the reasons for starting them. It would be interesting. Very interesting.

Hola, chicas!

Mi segunda opción sería más sencilla de explicar, y quizás más compleja de vivir. Si pudiera rediseñar una cosa, evitaría las mentiras. Pero no sería un mundo de monjes silenciosos. Creo que haría una pequeña concesión, porque soy realista y sé que la vida en familia a veces necesita un poco de cinta adhesiva para no romperse del todo. Permitiría esas mentiras blancas entre padres e hijos, entre hermanos, entre parejas que llevan treinta años juntos. El "no, cariño, esta salsa te ha quedado igual que siempre" cuando sabes que se ha quemado. Eso lo dejaría.

Pero fuera de la puerta de casa, nada. Mentira cero. Sería un mundo sin publicidad engañosa, sin políticos que prometen lo que nunca cumplirán, sin periodistas que maquillan la realidad para quedar bien con el poder. Nadie podría decir "no fue mi culpa" si lo fue. Nadie podría fingir un amor que no siente por conveniencia. Nadie podría vender humo.

Al principio sería un caos. Se romperían negocios, se romperían amistades falsas y se acabarían matrimonios construidos sobre medias verdades. Pero después de la sacudida, quedaría lo auténtico. Hablar con alguien sería realmente fiable. Leerías una noticia y sabrías que es cierta. Firmarías un contrato sin necesidad de abogados, porque lo dicho sería lo hecho.

Sería un mundo más incómodo, desde luego. Porque la mentira nos protege muchas veces de la crudeza de lo que el otro piensa de nosotros. Pero también sería un mundo más limpio. Donde lo que ves es lo que hay. Donde las guerras quizás no empezarían, porque nadie podría mentir sobre las razones para iniciarlas. Sería interesante. Muy interesante.
