🖤 Asphalt Mirrors: Urban Tarot Under the Lara Sky
Arcana 0: The Fool
On that sleepless early morning, I decided to go out and take photos, immersing myself in a rough yet necessary process of introspection. I began to view parts of my city and neighborhood as a directionless journey, capturing whatever presented itself along the way.
At first, I saw a man recycling with his dog. The sky reflected in the water like an abyss, instantly reminding me of Arcana 0. I framed and centered the composition by flipping the camera, sensing that this aimless walk was giving me purpose. Just like in the Tarot card, this wanderer is accompanied by his dog—a person often labeled as "fool," like myself, but for whom I feel deep empathy and admiration.
The Cathedral and the Mist of Terepaima
As I turned, the outline of the cathedral appeared in the distance. The crisp morning cold accompanied a thick fog descending from one of the Terepaima National Park mountains, wrapping around the structure and covering the city like a massive gray blanket beneath the heavy sky.
Neptune's Crossroads
In that same place, on the wet pavement, I came across this reflection: the red glow of the traffic light distorted in a puddle, looking like Neptune's trident, framed by streetlights and overhead cables. A moment of pause and decision mid-journey.
30 Stars and 2 Suns: The Syncretism of El Manteco
Continuing down 30th Street, I arrived at El Manteco, a district where trade, Christianity, Yoruba Santería, Babalawos, and their rich syncretism meet. Candles, incense, and religious icons line the area.
In the middle of the street, I found a massive puddle reflecting around 30 aligned lights like stars in a dark sky. It was magical to see the earth become the sky and the sky encompass everything, leaving only the center of the frame to El Manteco and its glowing reflections.
Arcana 16: The Tower and Sky Wires
Getting closer to El Manteco, as the sky grew even darker, I encountered an imposing communications tower reaching into the night. It brought Arcana 16, The Tower, to mind—a symbol of transformation and overwhelming forces breaking down old structures.
Beside it, another structure stood surrounded by wires that looked like webs woven across the sky: a network of "overhead streets" sustaining our connections and bringing us together. An entire city floating above us beneath a dark firmament.
Open Your Eyes, That's Where the Light Goes to Die
In that same Manteco sector, I noticed a flooded circular utility cover. Looking down, the reflection of the utility pole, transformers, and overhead wires aligned perfectly inside the circle, creating the shape of an eye. It served as a raw metaphor for our broken infrastructure that constantly cuts our power, exposing both physical decay and the poetic irony of a city looking at itself.
Triptych I, II, and III
Heading back home, exhausted from the night walk, I played with focusing and defocusing a single light on the horizon. From that exercise came a sequence of three images—a gentle fade-out where reality dissolves into soft points of light before sleep finally arrives.

🖤 Espejos de Asfalto: El Tarot Urbano bajo el Cielo de Lara
Arcano 0: El Loco
En esa madrugada en la que no podía dormir bien, decidí salir a tomar fotos y me sumergí en ese feo pero necesario proceso de introspección. Empecé a ver partes de mi ciudad y de mi barrio como un viaje sin sentido, capturando poco a poco lo que se presentaba.
Al principio vi a este señor reciclando con su perro. El cielo se reflejaba en el agua como si fuese un abismo y me recordó inmediatamente al Arcano 0. Enmarqué y centré la composición invirtiendo la cámara, porque en ese momento sentía que este viaje sin rumbo me daba sentido. Al igual que en la carta del Tarot, a este caminante lo acompaña su perro; un personaje al que muchos llaman "loco", pero hacia quien siento una gran empatía y admiración por su forma de vivir.
La Catedral y el Manto del Terepaima
A medida que avanzaba en la caminata, la silueta de la catedral apareció al fondo. El frío magnánimo de la mañana acompañaba a una densa bruma que bajaba desde el Parque Nacional Terepaima, envolviendo la estructura y cubriendo la ciudad como un enorme manto gris bajo el cielo denso.
La Encrucijada de Neptuno
Más adelante, en el asfalto mojado, me topé con este reflejo: el tono rojo del semáforo distorsionado en el agua de un charco, como el tridente de tritón, acompañado por las luces de los postes y los cables que cruzaban la toma. Un punto de parada y decisión en medio del recorrido nocturno.
30 Estrellas y 2 Soles: El Sincretismo de El Manteco
Continuando por la calle 30 llegué a divisar el sector El Manteco, un lugar donde convergen el comercio, la religión cristiana, la santería Yoruba, los babalaos y sus diversos sincretismos. Allí venden velas, inciensos y figuras de adoración.
En medio de la calle me encontré con este enorme charco que reflejaba cerca de 30 luces alineadas como estrellas en un cielo oscuro. Fue mágico ver cómo la tierra se convertía en el cielo y el cielo lo era todo, dejando solo el centro de la imagen ocupado por El Manteco y sus reflejos.
Arcano 16: La Torre y las Redes del Cielo
Acercándome más a El Manteco y a medida que el cielo se ponía más oscuro, me topé con esta imponente estructura de telecomunicaciones erigiéndose hacia la nada. Me recordó al Arcano 16, La Torre, ese símbolo de transformación y de cosas abrumadoras que rompen estructuras.
Junto a ella, vi otra torre rodeada por cables que parecían redes tejidas en el cielo: un montón de "calles aéreas" que sostienen nuestras conexiones y nos acercan. Es toda una ciudad flotando por encima de nosotros bajo un firmamento oscuro.
Ojo, por ahí se va la luz
En esta misma zona del Manteco, vi una tanquilla circular de telefonía totalmente anegada. Al mirar el agua, el reflejo del poste, las conexiones y los transformadores del cielo se alinearon dentro del círculo creando un ojo perfecto. Es una metáfora de nuestra infraestructura rota que nos quita la luz y nos complica la vida, dejando al descubierto la ironía de cómo la ciudad se observa a sí misma.
Tríptico I, II y III
Jugué a enfocar y desenfocar una luz en el horizonte. De ese ejercicio nacieron estas tres imágenes en secuencia que funcionan como un cierre suave, un respiro visual donde la realidad se difumina en puntos de luz.

Buah, qué fotos tan espectaculares. Me gustan mucho las de los reflejos que tomaste utilizando los charcos de agua de lluvia como espejos para reflejarlo todo. Espectacular trabajo fotográfico y el post y maquetado también te quedó muy bien.
