Scotland has their own banknotes
In Pfund Sterling.
Was sagt ihr dazu?
Royal Bank Of Scotland issued £10 sterling banknote with Mary Somerville on the front side.

Did you know that Scotland issues its own banknotes?
At first, I thought the £10 note was fake, but then I found out that Scotland doesn't use the English banknotes with the Queen or now King Charles III on them. Instead, there are three banks (Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Clydesdale Bank) that print their own pound notes, each with their own design.
The coins, on the other hand, are the same as in the rest of the United Kingdom. But English banknotes are also valid and accepted in Scotland, of course, provided you can pay in cash at all. Nowadays, most payments in the UK are also made electronically. In pounds sterling.
What do you think?
Leider. Schön da.
the simplessness on the Mary Somerville face is precious.
I had no idea about this until recently. Really interesting how Scotland has its own versions of the pound, makes me want to visit even more now. So should I'm case the USD is no longer the world currency perhaps currency like this will be more popular
thats cool. good thing they were allowed to print their own bank notes.
The truth is, I had no idea. And the Welsh?
I think the Welsh and Northern Ireland both use the official English UK banknotes and coins.
Ich hätte es mir gedacht, wo schon so viel extra be denennist. Fußball...m
Interesting, I tought they all had the same coin!
Pretty old style 🤣

I hear stories of some tourists getting confused about this when they visit Scotland. They think they need to exchange their English notes but they work fine everywhere. Though you're right, people barely use cash anyway, everything's contactless now.

.I think Scotland wants to have their own identity
That's quite interesting..
can the scottish banknotes only be used in scotland or also in other countries in the UK?
Good question, think it's up to the business whether they accept them or not, not ideal situation.
Trotzdem nur Fiat-geld
Das wusste ich nicht. SChon intressant das drei Banken selbst Noten Drucken dürfen
This is the first time I've heard that you can print notes yourself.
Three banks printing their own notes? It sounds like it can be annoying to deal with if there are any issues. I am glad that English banknotes are accepted though as it would probably make things easier on travelers.
I was quite surprised by this, as I’d never heard of such a thing before. But after doing a bit of research, it seems that the design and issuance of banknotes can indeed be handled by a bank in some countries, at least, though always within the legal framework and under the authority of the state.
