No conocía mi historia.

Small Things That Sustain Me #32
A Place to Rest

Hello @ladiesofhive community, once again I'm here with a new chapter of Small Things That Sustain Me.
There are days when tiredness needs no explanation.
You can see it in the way we walk, in shoulders that seem a little heavier than usual, or in the quiet desire to get home as soon as possible.
A little while ago, I had one of those days.
Work had been especially demanding, and when my shift finally ended, all I wanted was to go home and enjoy a little peace.
When I reached the bus stop, the bus arrived quickly.
The difficult part came afterward.
As so often happens, it was crowded.
I got on and found just enough space to hold on while the bus continued its route.
I didn't even think about finding a seat.
There were many people standing, and others probably felt just as tired as I did.
So I simply accepted that I would make the trip on my feet.
After a few stops, someone sitting nearby looked up at me for a moment.
Then that person stood up.
"Please, have my seat," they said with a gentle smile.
My first reaction was to say that it wasn't necessary.
But they insisted so naturally that I finally accepted.
I thanked them and sat down.
At that moment, my legs, which had been carrying the weight of the entire day, finally had a chance to rest.
As the bus continued moving, I realized that the greatest relief hadn't come from the seat itself.
It came from knowing that, among so many people absorbed in their own thoughts, someone had noticed how tired I was.
That person didn't know my name.
Didn't know my story.
Had no obligation to help me.
They simply decided to offer me a few minutes of rest.
When my stop arrived, I stood up, thanked them once again, and got off the bus feeling different.
I was still tired.
But somehow, the weight of the day felt lighter.
That simple act reminded me that kindness doesn't always require great effort.
Sometimes it only requires looking around and realizing that someone else needs something a little more than we do.
I have learned that some gestures comfort the body for only a few minutes.
But the kindness behind them can stay with us for much longer.
Thank you for reading.
