Sunset Serenade Flight Over the Homestead and the Dirty South FPV Park

It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon here at the Dirty South FPV Park on @run-a-muck-farms ! I had just gotten some new Ovonic 6s batteries for my 5 inch racing drone delivered and once I got them charged up, I just had to test them out, but I didn't test with the racer, with the sky starting to show off, I needed the digital footage, so the Joker did the job! I would say they did pretty well! Not bad for some budget batteries from Amazon.

Anyway, this one is for those that love the cinematic kind of stuff. It was certainly a beautiful sunset! But the flight wasn't all for lounging in the sky, you know I had to dive the park and rock a bit of freestyle action too! Haha!

These groovy tunes were created using Suno AI.

Until next time...

Be cool, be real, and always abide with the skies my dudes!

A question is as if they are built by you, I suppose that the intensity of the signal depends on what you spend on the antennas? on some receiver? This for example how much height and distance does it reach? The other time I saw a video of one that arrived at 10km 0.0 and never there, I fell, at 2km and I didn't give a shit...

If you are talking about the video signal, yes, it's all in the receivers you use, not so much the antenna. They type of antenna for the receiver is very important though. Analog and digital signals will use different types of antennas. This quad is using the DJI O3 air unit video system, which, until the 04 unit came out earlier this year, was the best video system on the planet, but has it's issues with latency, so I can't race with it, that is where older analog systems come into play. And even there, it isn't so much the antennas, but the power that the video transmitter puts out. Antennas help with range, so if I were to build a long range drone, I would use longer antennas, but being that this is more of a closer range freestyle quad, I used a shorter antenna that has less of a chance to break when I do tricks and crash, lol. Analog has a much faster video signal but lower picture quality, which is essential when doing something like racing, but the digital has a much better picture. Think of it as DVD vs VCR, lol. With a digital signal, you can get high res 4K footage, but with analog, you are doing good to get 720x480

Ahhh!! So it's normal that a long-range drone doesn't have the same 4K video capacity as one used for maneuvers. Perhaps that's why war drones have low resolution.

Yeah, so with those drones, they don't care what the video looks like, they are just trying to blow shit up, so they will use these cheap but really powerful analog video transmitters to put on those long range bomber drones like they are using in the Ukraine. Stuff that powerful is actually illegal to use in the US where I am without a special license from the Federal Communications Commission because you are basically broadcasting a TV signal like they did back before everything was digital. They aren't going to waste money on a nice 4K video system when the purpose of the drone is to make a one way trip to boom town.

Hey, I always learn something from your videos. Of course, not at your technical level, but I do understand the general idea! Every time I have a question, I ask because I'm curious, hehe. So, with your receiver, can you legally reach 5km?

I can hit 5km with my DJI unit with clear line of sight. The range starts to drop the more things that are in between you and the drone, such as trees and buildings. Like with this particular drone, I am supposed to get 6km out of the video unit, but I would need bigger batteries to get that far, plus I would be nervous without GPS, which I only have on 1 of my 7 drones, lol. That one will absolutely do 5km with digital signal, but again, I need clear line of sight. As far as analog, it really all depends on the wattage of the VTX. You would need something like 1-2W of power to get that much. Many of these DIY 'war drones' have like 2.5-3.5W VTX's which can get them about 10km or so. I had a 3.5W VTX on a drone at one point, but I was also flying through layers of concrete buildings, so I wanted the penetration.

And technically, you are supposed to get an FCC license for any video transmission, but whatever, free men don't ask permission! LOL. Just putting that out there so everyone else who might care can cover their butts, lol. I will say there is only 2 guys in my group with the license. One is a commercial drone pilot, the other is a HAMM radio operator. The rest of us are just skateboarding the skies on our own free will! LOL.

ok ok ok, I understand last week I was at the beach and next to me there was a navy military station, I was fishing without a license hahaha and the guys got there and launched the drone and flew over the military station, I already know from experience that this is prohibited, suddenly two guys with black clothes were coming in my direction and I said: "shit don't ask me for a fishing license" "shit" hahaha and they asked me do you know who is piloting that drone? and there ufff I breathed.... I told them those two guys and the guys went to them... what would happen next I don't know xD

Yeah, can’t do that, 🤣 That’s a big time no no, 🤣 That’s completely asking for some trouble, lol.

Fishing without a license is not near as big of a deal, lol. Used to fish unlicensed in FL all the time when I lived there, lol. But I would never be dumb enough to fly a drone over a military base, 🤣

Oh, and please ask questions! I am not near to the level that some of the guys I know are, so if I don't know the answer, I know the dudes that do, lol.
