“Ouch….That’s Going To Leave a Mark!”😳
The “Floor Trail” in the second photo is starting to become overgrown with vegetation, that includes small “Stinging Nettle plants”!😬
I stopped at this Trail Marker, and turned around to snap the third photo of Keith’s “Hairpin switchback”!😊
Silvertop was deciding whether today’s hike was worth the risk of being “Stung” with Nettles!😇
Just then our son Bill called Liz and Silvertop……..🥰
“Dad the Forest Fire smoke is really bad down here by Mt Si, and the Weather app is telling me the air quality is “Good”!🙄
Lol………where has Silvertop heard this before!😇
“Phoenix looks all tuckered out son,I guess it’s too hot for this little girl!”😅
Just then our call dropped out…………😮
Moments later our son called us back……
“Dad…. I just had a Hornet sting me INSIDE my sock!😬
The “Elk Fields” where Bill runs Phoenix, are very close to our son’s townhouse, it a very popular spot. It’s the “Go To” place to run Phoenix “Off Leash”.
The open field is also unfortunately the perfect place for ground Hornets!🙄
This time of year, they can become extremely agitated, and our son was just in the wrong place, at the wrong time!
“Maybe I should let you go, and run home and put some ice on the sting Dad!”😮
“Liz, I am going to take this as a “Sign” Lol!”😇
“We can hike the Floor Trail later in the Fall, after all the nasty Stinging Nettles die out Lol!”
We have miles of other trails just uphill from this switchback, where Nettles don’t grow!”☺️
All we need to careful of today would be Black Bears, and Cougars!😺
“Well at least we won’t get stung today honey Lol!”😇
