RE: Natto, El Pingüino y Las Montañas [ESP/ENG]

I’m surprised to hear this went viral recently. I thought I was late to the party about 10 years ago when I discovered Herzog.

This scene stood out to me and I rewatched it several times, feeling much in common with the penguin.

Sometimes what feels acceptable to everyone else can be unbearable to only you, and a 0.0001% of survival or just the chance to explore despite certain death is worth setting off towards the mountains.

Sometimes I think it’s suffering that causes us to explore and take risks, but I can feel something deep inside me calling that is not in pain, it just wants to know more

I completely agree; it's not like many people on social media are saying about this clip, comparing it to nihilism or things like that. I think it's more like a visual, fast, and impactful way of seeing the reality of the world and what lies beyond our own noses.

Many get used to only looking ahead, looking down, following the rules and not seeing beyond. They look up as if feeling empty, as if something were missing and they were searching for it in the vast sky. Sometimes they just want to unwind or are content to enjoy a beautiful view and carry on with their day.

Many become accustomed to suffering, scarcity, and a meaningless life. What caused the penguin to decide to leave the group and go to the mountains was its own disorientation. Those of us who feel this way are the ones who see the world differently than most people do. But only a few are able to go to the mountains without stopping.

Thank you so much for your comment and support.
