Choosing A New Game!!
It's quite hard for me to start a new game as I rarely am willing to comit to a 20-hour+ adventure which most single player games easily require. By now, I have a backlog of games bought at a big discount on Steam, along with a wishlist of 170 games that I'm tracking, and a ton of older retro games on Emulation. I brought my Steamdeck on my 2-Month Vacation to Thailand with the idea to pass some time on it on the plane and if I would be bored during my stay there I also had the option to work trough my backlog. Eventually, I only played 1 game there which I have been wanted to play for a long time which only took about 2 hours to finish which was A Short Hike. I actually played it as a Nintendo Switch emulation game and it ran perfectly on my Steam Deck.
A Short Hike (8.5/10)
This game has been on my list for a long time as I pretty much knew I was going to enjoy it since I like pixel art short narrative driven games like this and it also gets a lot of praise.
Basically I see A Short Hike as a game that would come out if Journey and Animal Crossings would make a baby. It has the cozyness of Animal crossings and the short adventure aspect where you try to reach the top of the mountain of Journey

The Story and gameplay of A Short Hike is pretty straightforward, you are a young bird on vacation at an island and you want to make a call but your cellphone has no reception. So you are set to make a Journey to the top of the Mountain on the Island to make it work. You have the ability to walk, jump and limited flight.

Along the way you meet all kinds of cute inhabitants of the island each with their own story that help you along the way and which you can have some fun with also. In order to fly longer and higher, you will need to find golden feathers to eventually reach the top of the mountain. I absolutely loved the visuals and also the music and sound design it came with.

I absolutely love games like this and it gave me a super fun time finishing it pretty much in a single session. Also the fact that it takes about 2 hours to finish while really giving a full experience and quite some emotions along the way is a rare thing.

This for sure was one of the gaming experiences that I will have positive memories on for the rest of my life and that I would actively recommend to people. A Super Solid 8.5/10

I'm currently playing the first Super Mario Galaxy game and aim to finish it somewhere in the coming weeks.
