Hello, Hive black-and-white photography lovers!

I don't know what you think, but to me, coffee often seems like an incredibly sensual beverage—one that offers a vast visual, olfactory, and symbolic range, from the moment we notice the beans on the coffee plant to the moment that precious liquid reaches our hands, ready to be savored.

The symbolism I speak of can hold widely varying meanings for different people, depending on the life experiences or capacity for dreaming they bring with them. The same applies to the sensitivity with which we pause before a black-and-white photograph, and the entire wealth of associations that comes with it.

Photography cannot be regarded as something superficial—something devoid of meaning, value, or underlying premises from its very inception. For me, drinking and enjoying coffee embodies that same principle in its entirety.

One can drink coffee quickly, in a rush, but it won’t taste the same.

When we pause to appreciate the visual aspects—the aroma, the unique vessel in which it is served, the curves of the cup (which can come in various shapes and colors), the saucer it rests on, the spoon used to stir in honey or sugar, and even the way the spoon and cup become stained by the consistency of the drink—I am certain it is enjoyed in a completely different way.

When you have the opportunity to do all this—and even more—with the person you love, I assure you that the result might surprise you!

I do not know if I succeeded, but my intention with these frames is to invite you to pause the next time you drink coffee—or any other beverage you enjoy—and look for the sensual in the light, the form, and beyond...

For now, immersed in my coffee, I’ll bid you farewell until the next black-and-white frame—but not without sending each of you a warm, radiant hug!

¡Hola amantes de la fotografía en blanco y negro de Hive!

No sé a ustedes que les parece, pero a mí, en muchas ocasiones, el café me parece una bebida sumamente sensual, que brinda toda una amplia gama visual, olfativa y simbólica desde que reparamos en los granos en el arbusto del cafeto hasta que llega a nuestras manos tan preciado líquido a degustar.

El simbolismo del que hablo, puede tener disímiles significados para las personas, como vivencias o capacidad de soñar les acompañe. Lo mismo sucede con la sensibilidad con que nos detengamos ante una fotografía en blanco y negro, con todo el bagaje que ello trae consigo.

La fotografía no puede tomarse como algo superficial, algo sin sentido, sin valor o presupuestos desde su propia concepción. Beber café, disfrutar el café, para mí, también encierra ese propio precepto en su conjunto.

Uno puede beber café de modo rápido, apurado, pero no tendrá el mismo sabor.

Cuando nos detenemos en lo visual, en el aroma, lo singular del envase donde se sirve al cliente, las curvas de esa taza, que puede tener diversas formas y colores, el plato donde descansa la taza, la cuchara que permite diluir la miel o el azúcar, el cómo quedan manchadas la propia cuchara y taza en virtud de la consistencia de la bebida, estoy seguro que se disfruta de otro modo.

Cuando se tiene la oportunidad de hacer todo esto, e incluso más, con la persona que amamos, ¡les aseguro que el resultado les puede sorprender!

No sé si lo logré, pero mi intención, con estos fotogramas, es invitarles a detenerse en la próxima ocasión que beban café, u otra bebida a placer personal, y busquen lo sensual en la luz, la forma y más allá...

Por lo pronto, sumergido en el café, me voy despidiendo por ahora hasta un próximo fotograma en blanco y negro, no sin antes regalarles a cada uno de ustedes ¡un abrazo de luz!
