18 September 2025, @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2864: take the chair.
This is in fact a journey of leadership and self-discovery. For me, it is a call to action. I had always been a quiet and reserved person, often finding myself lost in the background of meeting and group discussions. However, as I stood at the threshold of a new chapter in my life , I realized that I needed to take control and lead.
It was a typical Monday morning when my boss assigned me a new project. The task was to lead a team of five people and present their finding to the company's board of directors. I felt a mixed of emotions: excitement, fear, and uncertainty. I knew that this was an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and take the chair.
With determination in my heart, I accepted the challenge. I began by organizing meetings with my team, setting clear goals, and delegating tasks. As the project progressed, I found myself growing into my new role. I discovered that I had a natural ability to facilitate discussions, mediate conflicts, and motivate my team.
However, the journey was not without its challenges. I faced resistence from some team members who were skeptical about my leadership. I encountered unexpected obstacles and I had to think on my feet. But with each hurdle, I grew more confident and resilient.
The day of the presentation arrived, and my team was well-prepared. With my notes in my hand and a deep breath, I took the chair -literally and figuratively. I stood before the board of directors and presented their findings with clarity, conviction, and passion.
The presentation was a success, and my team received accolades for their work. More importantly, I discovered a newfound sense of purpose and confidence. I realized that I had the ability to lead and make a difference.
"Take the chair" is my Manda, reminding me to seize opportunities, to lead with courage, and trust myself. My journey taught me that leadership is not just about a title or position, but about embracing challenges, growing, and inspiring others.
As I looked back on my past experience, I know that I would continue to take the chair, leading with passion, empathy ,and determination. We all have to lead and make a positive impact in our lives and the lives of others.
