Allรญ extendรญ las manos.

Ojalรก que sรญ.

ENGLISH VERSION

May the first signs of spring bring us renewal!

Today was one of those days that leaves you breathless, and not for anything bad, but because of a long day at the clinic. I'm a doctor, and although many people believe that over time you get used to everything, I confess that's not the case, because every patient who walks through the door leaves something with me: a worry, a smile, a hidden fear. In the end, I often leave there with the feeling that my heart is a little fuller, but also a little heavier.
When I finally turned off the light and closed the door of my office, all I wanted was to get home, plop down on the sofa, and not think about anything for a while. But the universe had other plans for me. As soon as I left the clinic, the sky, which until recently had remained gray but calm, decided to open up completely. It was a real downpour, the kind that soaks you to the bone in a matter of seconds.

Upon arriving home, instead of going straight into a hot shower as I had initially planned, something stopped me. I looked out the window and saw my small patio, and I don't know if it was the fatigue, the day's adrenaline, or a gut feeling, but I felt I had to go out. I took off my shoes, left my bag at the entrance, and without a second thought, I opened the back door and stood under the eaves, right on the edge where the rain began to wet the ground. There, I stretched out my hands.
The water fell heavily, cold, hitting my skin with that intensity that belongs to what is real, what is authentic. And at that moment, everything else disappeared. For a few seconds that felt like an eternity, there were no pending diagnoses, no worries, nothing but me and this March rain. I watched the drops crash against my open palms, felt them slide between my fingers, and felt my skin prickle from the contrast in temperatures. But what moved me most, what really made me stop, was looking at the plants.

They were radiant. The poor things had been enduring the heat for weeks, the days of intense sun, the dry earth, and suddenly, this downpour. I saw them move with the wind, their leaves completely soaked and shiny, with a vitality that touched my soul. In a matter of minutes, the green was greener, the smell of wet earth enveloped everything. The happiness of those plants was so evident that I couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia for us humans. When was the last time I celebrated a change like that? When was the last time I allowed myself to receive a downpour with open arms, without taking shelter, without complaining, and without running for cover?
A thought came to mind: I hope we are reborn with this March rain. I hope that, just as my plants receive the rain as a gift, I can learn to receive the difficult moments, the heavy days, the downpours of life, for what they are: opportunities to cleanse myself, to shake off the accumulated dust, to nurture those roots that I have sometimes neglected.

March is a tricky month because it tricks us with days of radiant sunshine only to surprise us later with storms. And really, how lovely it would be to learn from that rhythm, while accepting that we cannot always be in bloom, that sometimes we have to go through the cold water, the wind, the discomfort, in order to be reborn stronger and more authentic.
While I was there, with wet hands and a calm soul, I thought about everything I also need to let go of. I thought that just as the rain washes the leaves and leaves that clean, new shine, perhaps this March water could also wash away my worries. I hope so.

So that is my wish today, for myself and for you who read this: that we become a little more like those patio plants, and that when the rain comes, instead of hiding, we dance. And even if the water hits us hard, we let ourselves get soaked.
Spring is just around the corner and I want to be reborn with it.
