The Letters Disappointment Sent Me

When realities in life doesn't meet our expectations, when what we hoped and dreamed for long doesn't come to play. It stings, sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly, it leaves you with a mix of emotions, Self-doubt, frustration, sadness. This is disappointment!

Just like preparing our favorite meal and then we realize that we totally forgot the key ingredient. But there are a lot of lessons we can learn from this, one big lesson is self-awareness and a potential for growth.

I look at disappointment as a beautifully wrapped gift left at your doorstep, the difference here is that you didn't order it, you weren't expecting it, but there it is. Tou unwrap the gift but it is far from what you hoped for instead, it contains a lesson disguised in frustration, pain and self doubt.

Most times we expect to receive something very shiny and beautiful inside, but it comes with a beautiful package and when we unwrap it eagerly, we find that it wasn't the success we envisioned.
But admist disappointment I see a hidden note: 'Here’s what you missed!'

Yes I try to see disappointment as a letter that comes in the package we didn't order, at first we may be tempted to reject it. But here in this post I'd be opening a few letter that disappointment sent me:

Letter 1: Slow Down

"Dear Madilyn,

You've been running too fast, expecting too much, what you're chasing isn't ready for you yet. I'm here to make you pause and breathe. And notice a beautiful path under your feet 🐾.

Yours friendly,
Disappointment."

Most times I have had plans that didn't work out, but it has taught me to be patient, doesn't mean giving up, but to stop rushing and start appreciating the process.

Letter 2: Check the Mirror

"Dear Friend,

You were seeking recognition and approval of others, but I gave you silence. You need to hear yourself first, not the crowd.

With Love,
Disappointment."

Disappointment made me realize the life I was truly living and I knew I needed to work on myself first. I needed to build my self confidence and reflect on my own growth and strengths.

Letter 3: Change Direction

"Dear Madilyn,

You looked roo long at a closed door, I had to come and gently show you the window beside it

Yours truly,
Disappointment

Most times the things we think are failures were actually a redirection, a push towards something better we haven't yet considered.

I have learned that not everything will work out as planned, but it doesn't mean we should stop planning, we need to learn from every disappointment and keep going in better paths.

Yes disappointment will still visit sometimes, but I don't fear it, I'll open the letters, read the lessons and move forward every stronger!

Thank you all for your time here, and this is my participation for the March inleo day 13 prompt

@madilyn02...

"I have learned that not everything will work out as planned, but it doesn't mean we should stop planning, we need to learn from every disappointment and keep going in better paths."

I know this one, ALL too well lol. Regardless of the reason for plans not working out... we've got to remember to be thankful for the plans that DO work out! I saw your initial post (you know, the "error" one 😉) and thought I'd stop by. Kind of a perfect example of what you are trying to express in this post; just because you planned to post in one community, and ended up doing so in another? That just means we are human! Hope you have a great start to your week!

Aww, thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I completely agree with you - it's essential to focus on the things that do work out and be grateful for them. And haha, yes, my initial post was a perfect example of things not going as planned! Thank you for reminding me that it's all part of being human. Wishing you a great week ahead too!

Disappointment hits us hard and usually hurts, but as you have always pointed out, each case leaves us with lessons and it is up to us to learn from each of the experiences and repeat the mistakes.
