I have mentioned this numerous times on chain, but if you are stuck and not sure what to write about.....Just poke around the blockchain. You will be blown away at what will inspire you!
In my case today it was from a 'slight argument' inside of @Snapie And I wanted to go over it, because I do think there can be good fruits come out of it, even if it turned a little ugly at times...
There's an account on chain who remains anonymous though they claim it's easy to figure out who they are.....I'm really not smart enough to be a detective so I have no idea who they are lol
Generally, this account and I have had decent back and forth's over the months because I agree with the majority of the points they bring up when it comes to the chain.
In a nutshell, they claim Hive is in trouble and needs some better content if we are going to make any kind of noise. And that is very true. I also believe that Hive needs to generate more activity from who is currently on chain because activity attracts activity.
Things got a bit personal and while I thought there was good dialogue, it didn't end with a solution. It happens, we are all not going to agree.
Back to the topic, for years I have stated we must be products of our products. Which on paper sounds great but what this account brings up again, holds weight because....We've tried pretty much everything and still, we just continue to exist.
We don't grow. The numbers just aren't there. We just collect our little rewards every 7 days and call it a day. And sure there are plenty of people who have done much more here than just create content every day, but for the bigger bulk of the community, how they add value is....Showing up and actually using this stuff.
And that's fine!
I don't think there is anything wrong with that. In fact, I think this should be celebrated because it's really hard to get any kind of traction online when it comes to content creation and engagement.
We are blessed here on chain because there is a financial incentive to create and engage. And for better or for worse, it's part of the DNA of Hive. Sure there are bad actors, but guess what.....Bad actors are everywhere online.

I have constantly called out the problems here, heck I even had a podcast for many years that addressed issues. I have built on chain, used it to attempt to build online brands and online businesses here as well.
But don't get me wrong, I have been SUPER frustrated with the politics here.
We all have been.
Here's the kicker....This is my online home and I love it. I love that I can create here, I can engage here and even with super cheap Hive prices...I can grow here!
This place isn't perfect and there is plenty that can be improved upon. But I just don't think it'll be solved by pointing the fingers over and over again and saying....Everything sucks!
It really does change when we change ourselves...
Want better content? Create better content!
Need more engagement? Engage more!
Support the projects that are building here, use the platforms and this may sound a bit corny but...Be grateful that we have this blockchain! There really is nothing like it anywhere online....
When will the rest of the world discover it?

And my conclusion is to call both sides of the argument a draw. Although I think the discussion lacked some background music too.
I think rewards are one of the main things that attract people here, and when the price stays low for a long time, it becomes harder to attract new users or bring old ones back.
Sadly it's frowned upon to promote that. Which if done properly, would attract a lot of people.
One of the things is the lack of patience. People have TikTok brain and I see it like crazy over on FOMO. People are constantly hyper rotating into another meme and another meme.
The power up and power down situation became an issue a long time ago.
This has been an issue even 8 to 10 years ago. No one is really able to make a living purely off creating content here. For a project with a marketcap this big it is wild to think not 1 person could make a living off producing content.
A platform like FOMO there are people making millions tweaking out in the trenches investing in memes. Most are losing money but people feel like they have a shot at riches. People don't feel like they have a chance at paying even a fraction of their daily expenses here.
So where does the capital injection and project funding come from when the DOA has never really been used fully and everyone is hyper rotating to the next thing ?
The new narrative is pairing things with Real World Assets and incentivizing holders in what ever RWA asset the project is paired with.
I do think an Improved FOMO style app could be created on top of HIVE but any proposal to do it wouldn't get funded and at that point why not do it on a top chain or a chain someone has more control over?
You hit some great points and thebig one for me is the culture that Hive frowns upon people cashing out. You are considered scum if you powerdown. So you are right, the whole idea of being able to live off your efforts here, just doesn't exist.
Yeah unless one of the good ol' boys gets funding and begin any new project, good luck trying to get a proposal through. The DHF is great on paper but awful on execution.
DAO are really hard to pull off efficiently. I do think the whole ecosystem could be a great platform if the whole MAGI thing can be pulled off and have a lot of liquidity. Because with that, Chainflip and Thorchain and maybe some other bridging seamlessly can be a huge benefit. That is part of why FOMO is so powerful. It makes it more chain independent.
Hive has never been perfect, but I do think it was the best social media out there. I just think that Hive has been mismanaged for quite a while, so it will take quite a bit of work to attract anyone new or old back in.
I agree with that completely. Mismanaged by those that control it. New leadership here would go a long way
Energy feeds off of energy, for sure. I am trying to be sure I do something here daily (in addition to keeping up with granddaughter and teaching my classes. !BBH
It really does...I mean, if we are all depressed and saying how bad things are....It'll become a self fulfilling prophecy.
I am currently happy here on Hive and I believe bigger things will come soon to the blockchain

I share the sentiment, and my response is just to keep myself busy with my mini activity on the chain. With my insignificant influence, the last thing I want to see is to attract the hostility of the power holders.
As for the world's discovery of this wonderful chain, I accept the reality that most people are not concerned with value, but with an uptrend in price.
