The Reality of Hive

_hnboohg.png

If you read that title and think this is going to be a post about how awful Hive has been managed over the years, this won't be it...

We already know, things aren't perfect. Things can be improved. And the solutions will always be up to the blockchain, not the markets...At least we hope we can change things lol

But what this post is, will be another 'story time with Jongo' and my experience on the chain since December of 2017.

And it's all been inspired by the few posts that @spacecop has been posting recently. If you haven't seen them, you should check them out. Because it's showing through the data, where every single Hive has gone and to who's wallet over the years.

There was post made yesterday that I got tagged in and it really reminded me of how powerful this place can be, let's see what I'm talking about...

Since 2020, yours truly was the 33rd most rewarded creator on chain! Now let's put a few things out there first...

Between 2017 to around 2023, all I did was work on chain. I was trying to resurrect my online business, so I was doing content creation full time.

Because of that, I think I showed the blockchain how serious I was and the trickle down effect was lots of upvote support. Especially during my podcasting years with Crypto Maniacs.

Plus the price of Hive was much stronger which meant, more people where active here. Once again...Trickle down effects.

But then I had to get an offline job and get a home for my family through it. A huge chunk of those rewards I got from my time on Hive, ended up securing the downpayment for our home.

Re-read that again....

My efforts here on chain, allowed me to make sure my family was taken care of and move into our own home.

This is the reality of my journey here on Hive.

Do I wish things were better? That's a loaded question, because I'm beyond thankful for all the support over the years. Sure, we all wish Hive was 5 dollars per token, but still...The reality is, when you put the effort in and stay the course, good things happen.

The posts from @spacecop highlight the top 40 creators on chain that got rewarded, and sadly a big chunk of those names on the list aren't here anymore.

That's another reality that might be tougher to swallow. Maybe we need to ask the question, why?

I'm not talking about DHF payouts here, this is strictly the creators because they have been the life blood of engagement here. That's my biggest concern is how to keep people here, creating and engaging.

That's the measuring stick I'd love to monitor over the next few years here. How many of those top 40 will still be here during these all time lows?

It's easy to stick around when everyone else is...Who is going to stay the course through the bad times as well?

As for me...Forever grateful. Forever thankful! And my pledge to anyone reading this, is that I'll continue to try to add value here on chain and to your journey, every day I'm above the dirt :)

Thank you that mentioned initial post. Reading list of authors I really thought that many people still with us but some of them left hive unfortunately... But on the other side newcomers can bring new effort on hive I think.

Hive also helped me pay some debts and kept food on the table when I decided to quit my old job for the sake of what was left of my sanity..so of course I will always be grateful :) Now it's time to get back on the road to dolphin lol. Does the "fish rate" still exist tho? prolly the numbers changed through the years

I never moved anything out, but the numbers on that post were kind of crazy. I went through the list of names, and quite a few of them stopped. It's sad to see them leave when you realize that quite a few have stopped completely.

Is there a way to do a "Where are they now?" sort of look at where everyone is today?

The trick is learning more and more... and if you find what you really are comfortable putting inside your mouth ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ (gosh... my language has to improve).

If you put your knowledge where your mouth is... things change in everything in one's life.

Parenting, friendships, the hobby you really enjoy, the principles you defend...

It's inherited into the way humans get proficient at things.

I've been on-chain for 5 years now. God willing, 5 more years and we will see.
