Time for another fun filled episode of .....Storytime with Jongo!
If we use our fun little time machine, we go back to the year 2018. It was an exciting year on this blockchain. New games were popping up, crypto seminars started to become a thing, and overall, the excitement around these parts was second to none.
We saw some online influencers even start showing up and creating a presence with a blog post or two. But generally, this chain never seemed to catch fire on the markets.
And this is way before we could point the finger at the controllers of the DHF....This is when a company actually dictated who got support through delegation and who didn't.
So devs seemed to go one of two ways...Either create a voting bot, and make a ton of profits. Or kiss the rear end of said company and pray for some delegation.
Honestly, we all just accepted it because the future was so bright....
And then along came the pumps!
Oh man, when these things happened, everyone seemed to love each other lol We were the smartest people in all of crypto when the token soared past1 dollar than 2 and onto higher highs....
But then it came back down. Nothing really seemed to sustain the pumps we got used to.
And they happened a lot...
News of Binance adding Steem (Hive) saw a big pump. We were set!
Then it crashed....
A Korean crypto exchange had a huge pump every now and again...And we all promised the next time a pump came, we'd have some liquid tokens to cash out.
Pump....Dump...Pump....Dump!
It's literally the history of not only this chain, but crypto overall. Nothing seems to make sense here, you see development and actual real world use case but...Dump.
You see some whales playing around with a few million bucks....Pump.
Rinse and repeat.
So when I saw the recent little surge that Hive was having over the past few days, I approach them with the attitude of....So what?
Nothing changes when it comes to my strategy here. For me it's show up and keep creating and curating. Because that's what I can control, and whether or not these prices keep going up and fall back down, I have zero control.
Instead. I worry about what I can control!
I think there is excitement because we hit all time lows for the Hive token price, so people are excited to see some life pumped back in.
But rest assured, it'll dump. And then it'll pump. And dump. And pump...And so on.
Hey look, playing the markets is fun. I get it. It's like being in a casino and thinking you are going to beat the house. And if you treat it as a game, you'll be o.k. in that realm.
But for those of us that, this is it, don't concern yourself about what the price of this stuff is. Just show up, every day and focus on what you can control.
Effort and attitude!

My take on this is that since we're going to be creating content anyway, we might as well do it here. Hive feels more real. Less fake and snake oil and more folks from all around the world sharing what's on their mind at any given moment. It's about as real as it gets.
Exactly!
I'm having much more fun here and much more engagement. The fact that I can earn a few bucks every day from it, is just a bonus.
Well said! Keep creating, building and having fun. The moment you become obsessed with the price it's work and that loses its shine and appeal very quickly.

Oh absolutely. I would be so depressed if all I looked at was the price of Hive.

Thanks for the support!
I stopped caring about the price already.
Despite it's issues, Hive is my online home.
❤️
Same here. If it pumps, great. If not, I'm still using it lol
It's just a cycle. Let's see where things go. It's hard to have that much hope since the DHF issues took so long, and I think the effects were too little by the time they took action.
Been a while since I had a look at a reply from you.
The volume change is good in our case.
I have been spending a lot less time on Hive lately. Just a few hours at night. It's nice to see you are still around
Have you been playing stuff? I have just been trying this https://miningwar.slothbuzz.com, and it is reminding me of "ALMOST" Dcity games strategy... but with a different twist... like the https://moon.hive.pizza game effort (where if you stay up and defend you get extra power).
Anyhow. Still around... glad you are too. Might go to the US this November, but don't know yet.
Not much besides a little bit of Splinterlands and Golem Overlord. Been playing games outside of Hive lately as I find it more enjoyable.
Yeah and honestly, I dont think it'll ever get sorted properly. The good ol' boys make a lot of Hive from it, so it wont change.
Pump dump pump dump, same movie every time. Honestly you nailed it, show up daily, keep creating, price is noise. That's the only strategy that's ever worked for me too
cant control anything else, might as well focus on what we can!
People may stay for the community, but a healthy price and decent rewards can definitely make Hive more attractive.
Oh no doubt, better price will always attract more people
Showing up every day is the boring thing that leads to success. I read it is bettor to be consistently at 80% than to just pop in once in a while at 100% . !BBH

completely agree....i literally have zero skills. I just showed up longer than a lot of people lol
Main difference this time around is that pretty much all altcoins are riding up on the coattails of Bitcoin. Sadly, Hive is actually up less than BTC over the past 7 days...
Yeh and there has to be a reason for it. HIve has always been the ugly duckling on the markets.
I hope the pump continues for a long period of time
lol it wont
Indeed, it is a cycle of pump and dump we just have to find the right time to take profits
Yeah, nothing wrong with that. I think we've built a culture here that sometimes looks down at cashing out every now and again
