Me and my first pocket money story!.
Wow this contest is full of childhood memorles.....
Growing up in the village in my secondary school days was fun, living with my maternal grandmother, she took quality care of me. I was, and still her first grandchild, she was good.

As I gained admission into secondary school, posted to a secondary school far away from my village, i became a boarding house student from my class one to class five as it was known and called then.
My parents now came completely into the scene of my life. As school resumed for a first term, my father sent down some amount of money for both my registration as a new student and some money for my first pocket money in my entire life.
I was extremely happy to be a boarding student, leaving out from my village to another far place I had never been to before.
My uncle took me to the new school, after registration and buying of some text books and exercise books for my classes, he gave me some money, I may not even remember the exact amount. What I remembered vividly now is how our house mistress signed our exit cards myself and my friends, to go to the village market to buy our provisions. That village market comes weekly, not an everyday market square!
Wow oooo 😂, I was extremely happy, it was my opportunity to enjoy some provisions I have been admiring overtime, now I can make my choices and likes...
I went and bought some tins of sardines, tins of gesha fish source, two packets of carbin biscuits, a tin of the original ovaltin tea drink, peak milk, a packet of st. Louise surga, body cream, joy bathing soaps and many others. Heee, hee😂, I was happy and fulfilled, coming into the dormetary as a big girl/ rich kid.
Having gotten almost all that I have been craving for over the years. That was how my life began as a secondary school girl, 'big girl' a boarding house student for that matter. I was just bubbling within myself and my friends too felt same way!
Also during our afternoon preps, I will get myself a bottle of Coca-Cola drink, at #2.50, two naira and fifty kobo only. Now only me can drink the whole bottle all alone. No more sharing with siblings as we used to do at home. I was very happy, doing 'inyanga'.... all around school with my good friends, we are still good friends till now. It's a beautiful memory to me, I may never forget all these key points of my growing up and my first pocket money!
A little amount of money satisfied cravings then than now. After this first time pocket money given to me. My father changed, and decided to be sending the majority of my pocket monies to my guardian. A teacher in my school, too much enjoyment ceazed.
Omo! 😂, my enjoyment level lowered drastically. Before this guardian of mine will bring out my own pocket money for me, I must come with a reasonable list of what I needed the money for. No more what I wanted! hee hee, water don pass gari ooo i didn't like her strict method on my own pocket money at all. No available phone to complain only letter writing, one is not even sure of their arrivals.
I really enjoyed my first pocket money given to me by my parents
Thank you for reading through.
