Dreaming of America, Rooted in Africa

Today, my sister, a girl of five years or so, asked me, "Does the US hate black people? Are they racist?" I said, "No, just that we can't predict them." She always dreams of going to the US one day. She wants to see that country with beautiful landscapes, as displayed in many American movies.

I told her, "Hopefully, you can. But right now, love your country and be proud of who you are as a Nigerian. Many white people are proud of who they are, and they are not superior. Never think that they are better and more equipped. Studies show that they have stolen from us and they have never repaid all their debts. They once had those cruel slaves that they used on the fields to work for them. Whether they like it or not, we are important." And I told her that she was born black to be different. She is beautiful the way she is.

Many African countries are proclaiming what they have lost. If we look at it, what have we done to the white people? What have we done? Yet, some of us are brutally killed, murdered, and deliberately affected just because one is black. They go away with it... but I tell you that if Africa rises up today, they might have to pay for it, and I perceive that they are scared and patterning the world against Africa. The movie by Denzel Washington, The Great Debaters, says it all.

I will end this write-up by saying this to you all: an unjust law is no law at all.

Thanks.
