A Busy Day At Work!|Chamber Talk | Alive and Thriving on June 02, 2025 | Extra (HIVE + Health) Titbits

Hi there. How are you? I hope you are doing great. Welcome to my short diary for Monday, June 02, 2025!

This picture was taken a few days ago. In the evening, it was captured. There were thick clouds in the sky. However, they couldn't hide the tiny moon :D

It was a somewhat busy workday on Monday. I consulted 35 patients in my chamber, most of them from my home country. There was no emergency case. In the visa medical section, many people came for their fitness tests. I examined some of them.

It was also captured at the same time.

A new GP doctor joined our company. He is from India. For the time being, he will work in our clinic to be familiar with the systems. Hence, some days of the week, there will be 4 GP doctors on duty! I hope that the workload will be further reduced for us :)

An Early morning view. It was captured a few months ago during a morning walk!

Recently, I got a good number of traumatic chest pain patients. They get the injuries in different ways! One of them fell on a hard object and hit his right lower rib area. One of them got hit by a heavy object in his chest. Another one got injured in an interesting! According to him, one of his muscle-man friends, while having fun, squeezed him heavily. Afterwards, he started having chest pain!

One of the patients on Monday came for a follow-up. She was a diabetic patient, and her DM was out of control for a long time. She also came with back pain. One week before, her blood sugar was 393 mg/dl. I increased the diabetes medicine doses, along with painkillers. This time, her blood sugar was over 400 mg/dl. And her pain didn't improve at all. I further increased her sugar medicine dose. However, I explained to her that until her sugar comes down, the pain medication won't work effectively. And, most likely, she will need to start insulin soon!

Another early morning-walk photograph

On Monday, I couldn't walk on the treadmill. Hence, I couldn't do the recommended 10k steps 😞! From my casual walk, I could only do 7,073 steps!

Dementia risk predictors!

We all know that prevention is better than a cure. For many conditions, early detection and appropriate measures offer good outcomes. However, predicting a condition and taking measures to slow it down (if inevitable) is the best thing in some instances. A study showed that the risk of developing dementia can be predicted up to 2 decades before the appearance of the symptoms. The researchers have listed eleven key dementia predictors! Lifestyles, physical health, and cognitive abilities include those predictors.

  • Poor physical health

  • History of a stroke

  • Presence of the genes that are found in association with a risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia

  • No private health insurance plan at age 60

  • Having no regular work or working only for a few years

  • Suffering from DM or having a BMI of 35 or more at age 60

  • No drinking or excessive drinking of alcohol

  • No habit of exercising

  • Poor performance in various physical tests (such as grip strength, walking speed, and balance, etc.)

  • Not being a conscientious person

  • Lack of interest in hobbies and activities that involve learning new things
