My Hive tracking without Hive targets
This past week hasn't been as positive as the last few, but I still managed to earn 10.40 HP in author rewards. I think the effects of the latest Hive update are starting to show, which has reduced the rewards. Unfortunately, this hasn't been offset by an increase in the token price.
In recent weeks, they've reacted by limiting some excessive on-chain expenses, which is good, but I don't think it's enough. I'm not an expert in networks, much less in Hive, which for me is more of a hobby than anything else. But I do know a bit about economics from my education and my job, so a problem like this can't be solved solely by cutting costs.
This is primarily a social network, and to function, it needs to attract a lot of attention. But we have to understand it as a business, and for a business to increase in value, it needs to attract capital. Capital is only attracted by incentivizing the possibility of earning more capital; otherwise, people will go elsewhere. So when I see people who seem bothered by users withdrawing money, I wonder who's going to want to bring money here if they're going to be frowned upon for collecting their profits.
It doesn't seem logical to me, and it creates an insecurity that discourages investment. I've spoken to several people about Hive, and they all end up saying the same thing: Hive isn't a place you can trust.
