POD HARNESS! 3DP, PDC, Dumb Dead Turkey, Kiting, Dibblers, Trailer - Thursday
It arrived nice and early yesterday morning!!! I got J to school then had to let R sleep in a bit thanks to the super late night but then got him to school before 9am. Not long after the package arrived and I nearly shit when I pulled the harness out... It is INSANELY light weight!
I had the printer going on a pair of camping gas canister legs which work really well. Going to give a set to my friends.
HOLY SHIT I LOVE THE HARNESS!!!! I am soooooo anxious to get it in the air.
It works perfect with my front mount reserve which sits right in front of the chest harness and just inside the pod but still easily accessible if needed for deployment. The thing is made with Dyneema which is like Spectra, very thin very strong lines. It's really wild to me how much more safe and secure this crazy light harness feels compared to my regular free leg harness. I may never fly my Verso again if this thing flies like I think it will. It's the Skywalk Range X-ALPS... It's meant as a race and XC harness.
I washed a few pieces, the pack, the cover for the foam protector, and the flight deck.
PDC was on and Price hit a 9 darter, but lost the round. There were 3 other players who got to 7 of 9 and really high averages, so was a really wild event to watch.
To print in ABA I needed to move the printer to the pantry where I have the ventilation setup. Had to level it and run the self check before starting.
I did a scaled down test print and it came out great. I had found DIBBLERS... they are the spikes that are attached to a board that gets pressed into the soil to make holes to plant garlic in. I want them to be durable so went with the ABA instead of ABS due to the slight increase in hardness. This one did great so I got the plate of 13 going which was a 6+ hr print.
I have seen the fucking raven in the tree out front in the mornings and it flew to the ground which meant eggs were there. I went hunting and found the nest where one of the stupid turkeys had been laying and likely sitting on eggs, though no capable tom is near.
WELLLLLL, the owls got the dumb ass. And it was obviously owls since the head had been torn off and the carcass was still there. It was the one with the screwed up leg that couldn't walk as well so wasn't able to get away as easily.
The boys had their last STEM club after school and so I took my wing and harnesses up to the high school soccer field and got 45 minutes of kiting in. I hooked up the new harness to the wing and got a tiny feel of it before switching to my kiting harness.
I got some really solid pops of wind that came through and was able to get some really good kiting in. I love the Camino and it is far far easier for me to control than the Evora. The Camino is far more touchy and WILL collapse but it is easy to deal with and most all the tucks pull out with a tug or two on the brake.
We had been home a bit and J noticed the print fucked up. The parts broke loose and borked the print. I was NOT pleased with the wasted prints. I have ideas for what to use some of them for...
So I had to grab the smooth plate, spray it with hair spray and start the print all over again. This morning they were all perfectly done and easily popped off the plate.
I got the trailer hooked up for the grain run I have done already.
Thankfully for my new prednisone script I'll be able to soak better as my garbage skin heals.
I have been to town for grain already this morning and emptied it into the sheep pen, disconnected the trailer, and now got my post done. I'll get the boys to school in a bit, it's going to be raining off and on all day, Utd are going to get embarrassed by Chelsea, I have to make syrup for the bees, keep the printer going, do minor repairs on the harness when the tape arrives, and then maybe grill for dinner.

Looks like an awesome harness, hope you get some good weather to try it out soon!💪
How will this flare compared to the old harness with your legs enclosed?
It should land really similar, just pop the legs out the front of the pod as nearing landing and hang in the harness. The foot board is the only pain as it clunks against the back of the legs.
Stupid rain for the next days...
That makes sense, sounds awesome!👍
I’m really getting tired of this rain….🙄
I'm fascinated by your posts. Sometimes when I'm reading them, I discuss them with my wife and show her the photographs as if I were a little kid. I say, "Look, look at these, look what he did, look, this is used to jump and glide in the air, this is a garlic field." And, well, I tell her everything you do and share with us.
I don't know if it's my desire to join you on your adventures and jump into the void or your way of narrating.
But I've become a fan of your posts.
I think they're the most original and natural on Hive.
Thanks, I just have a load of various interests that I try to cycle through and am able to show in my posts. I've been using it as kind of a diary for the past years and to show my wife @stryeyz what happens around the farm while she is at work.
That's profound, brother. You share your daily life with your wife so she can see that you haven't forgotten her.
Congratulations and I wish you the best for you and your family.
I will continue sharing and enjoying your posts with my wife, @elviguitarra.
Hugs and success.
