Harvests, Coop Controller, Beets, Weeds, Invasion, B2S, Trailer, Turkey, Wagon Rides - Friday
Had a moderate amount to pick yesterday morning since the rows are dwindling in production or are still ramping up. The squash are producing a medium pace, the cucs are ramping up to full production, and the tomatoes are loaded and trying to ripen.
The coop door controller code is finally working right. This is the part that was screwing it up. For some reason the boolean wouldn't work and was killing the else if string, it would never go to August and was not setting the closing time. I had to remove the || and move the 7 to it's own if else and now the closing time works correctly.
else if (Month2int(currentTime.getMonth()) == 6 || 7){
DOOR_CLOSE_HH = 21;
DOOR_CLOSE_MM = 30;
}
else if (Month2int(currentTime.getMonth()) == 8){
DOOR_CLOSE_HH = 21;
DOOR_CLOSE_MM = 30;
}
I went through the beet rows and pulled any that were of okay size, lopped the tops, tossed them in the basket and set them aside while I planted more seeds.
Worked out nice that each row had 37 open spots that got seeds.
I happened to walk back into the house to see the last bits of the gold medal soccer match which Spain won and France lost.
I got started pulling the weeds from the garlic beds area but only got part way. I have a shit ton to pull today first thing because I am going to haul the grain in and spread it out over the area to prep it for the fall planting.
I had noticed that the raspberries were invading the greenhouse but didn't realize just how much until I started pulling. I have some serious work to do to keep them at bay.
@stryeyz and the boys went to town and did school shopping which they had to sort out once home.
R wants a desk like the one I made for J but I don't quite have the wood to make another one... BUT I do have the old desk that I will clean up then mount a wide desk top to it. J wants the top to hinge in the middle so he can get into the desk without having to move everything.
I hooked the trailer up later in the afternoon for the grain run I have done this morning.
the turkeys were milling about and I grabbed one of the toms. Doofy damned birds.
None of us felt like cooking so we got a pizza from up the road and brought it home to eat on the deck.
After a healthy application of WD40 to the wheels of the wagon R was hauling ass down the sled run area in it.
He made it all the way down into the pit at the bottom numerous times. I have a feeling they will be mobbing down the hill a bunch today.
Now that the coop door is back to automatic I can soak a bit longer.
I have been to town for grain already this morning, got gas on the way home and have the truck and trailer parked by the house so the birds don't invade the grain. I have to finish clearing the garlic area of weeds so I can get the trailer backed up the end of the garden and I will wheel barrow loads of grain to spread.

If you just put a orange hat on that turkey... 😆 🤣

🤣

That's the good life bro!
I have thought about turkey, but I want to get chickens right first, lol.
Turkeys are super easy and mellow birds and the feed conversion rate is quite high with them. If the hens get old enough they start laying some pretty huge eggs.
