Hello, dear friends of Hive DIY, I hope you're all doing very well, wherever you are right now. I want to share with you a drawing I made on black cardboard of the legend of Argentine and Spanish rock, Mr. Gustavo Cerati, someone I've always considered a great lyrical and musical influence. Cerati not only composed brilliant lyrics that went hand in hand with the best poetry in the world, but he also experimented with incredible sounds through his electric guitar. He left this world many years ago, but his music lives on, and it's a pleasure that, thanks to technology, new generations can discover such a great artist. I made this drawing with a white pencil—my beloved white colored pencil that's already in its final stages. I hope you like it. I'll briefly show you how I did it, step by step. Let's begin!

Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, espero que se encuentren todos muy muy bien donde quiera que estén en este momento. Quiero compartir con ustedes un dibujo que hice en cartulina negra, de leyenda del rock argentino e hispano, el señor Gustavo Cerati, alguien al que siempre he considerado una gran influencia a nivel lirical y musical. Cerati no solo componía letras geniales que se daban la mano con la mejor poesía del mundo, sino que experimentaba con sonidos increíbles a través de su guitarra eléctrica. Hace muchos años que dejó este mundo pero su música sigue vigente y es un placer que las nuevas generaciones gracias a la tecnología puedan conocer a tan gran artista. Este dibujo lo he realizado con lápiz blanco, mi querido lápiz de color blanco que ya se encuentra dando sus últimos trazos, espero que les agrade, les mostraré brevemente paso a paso como lo hice, comencemos!

PROCESS

I wanted to try an experiment, using a variety of colored pencils and not just white. So I did a test on a piece of cardboard. While the colors looked great, I didn't like how they would look on a face, so I gave up on the idea of making a colorful portrait. So I used only white, with which I began directly to draw the shapes and not a sketch as I usually do. Here I immediately outlined what would be the nose, eyes, and other parts of the face.

Quise hacer un experimento, y fue utilizar los lápices de colores variados y no solo el blanco, así que hice una prueba en un trozo de cartulina, si bien los colores pintaban excelente no me gustó como se verían para un rostro, así que desistí de la idea de hacer un retrato colorido. Así que solo utilicé el color blanco con el cual comencé directamente a dibujar las formas y no un boceto como tengo por costumbre, aquí fue delineando sin demora lo que sería la nariz, ojos y otras partes del rostro.

I emphasize that the white color I use for the lines is not the same as the one I use for filling, as they are different. The white for the lines is a school color, while the other, more intense one is charcoal, which is what I was referring to when I said I was already in the final stages. So I continue doing parts like her eyes and what will be the hair area.

Hago énfasis que el color blanco que utilizo para la líneas no es el mismo que utilizo para rellenar, ya que son diferentes, el color blanco para líneas es uno de uso escolar, mientras que el otro, más intenso es carboncillo, a este me refería cuando dije que ya estaba en sus últimos trazos. Así que continúo haciendo partes como sus ojos y lo que será el área del cabello.

In the next step, the drawing now needs to change color, but not tone hehe, since I use white charcoal only to accentuate some lines on the edges, since I need to have them very clear and not blurred and thus the contrast is established with what will be the rest of the drawing.

En el siguiente paos, el dibujo ya necesita que cambie de color, pero no de tono jeje, ya que utilizo el carboncillo blanco solamente para acentuar algunas líneas en los bordes, ya que necesito tenerlas muy claras y no difusas y así el contraste vaya quedando establecido con lo que será el resto del dibujo.

Then, in the next step, I use charcoal white, which is the reason I begin painting the face and giving it shape. You can see how, starting with the nose, I cover the face toward the lower part of the drawing. Although it's white, there are places where there's shadow. To lower the intensity of the color, I only use the softest strokes, and when I reach the limit, I switch to using the traditional wax color. It's with this combination of materials that I can achieve that depth effect.

Luego en el paso siguiente si utilizo el color blanco carboncillo, y es que la razón es comenzar a pintar el rostro y darle forma, pueden ver como desde lo que sería la nariz voy cubriendo el rostro hacia la zona inferior del dibujo. Aunque s etrata de color blanco, existen lugares donde hay sombra, para bajar la intensidad del color solo hago los trazos más suaves, y cuando llego al límite entonces vuelco a usar el color tradicional de cera. Con esta combinación de materiales es que puedo lograr ese efecto de profundidad.

I'm also gradually painting the microphone. At the bottom, you can see part of the guitar, although it's very blurry. I tried to paint that part. I also painted the top part of the hair, which has more light reflections, and with black, I added some messy hair near her face. That's how it's finished.

Tambien voy poco a poco pintando el micrófono, en la parte inferior se puede ver parte de la guitarra aunque está sale muy borrosa, traté de hacer esa parte. Así también fui pintando la parte superior del cabello, la cual tiene más reflejos de luz, y con el color negro hacer algunos cabellos desordenados cerca de su rostro, de esta manera quedó finalizado.

FINAL WORK
