The magic of the streak keeps rolling at Fenway. Going from 11 games back of the third AL Wild Card spot on June 24th to flipping the script and sitting on a +6 cushion for the second Wild Card is just an unbelievable turnaround for the Boston Red Sox. Y anoche continuaron funcionando como una maquinaria, en la que recae la responsabilidad de producir las carreras necesarias para la victoria. La serie contra los Medias Blancas continúo y ésta vez blanquearon a los chicos de la ciudad de los vientos con marcador de 4-0. Y 3 de esa 4 rayitas la produjeron los bates criollos. Sencillo productor de una, cortesía de Willson Contreras; jonrón solitario del maracucho Wilyer Abreu trajo otra carrera a la registradora y por último, elevado de sacrificio de Andruw Monasterio elevó la cuenta por otra remolcada. Lo de Abreu ha sido un segundo despertar, porque lleva 3 juegos consecutivos bateando cuadrangulares. No sé, pero si ésta historia termina con los Red Sox en la serie mundial, será una de las más lindas jamás contadas. Y ya van 7 victorias seguidas. De no creer.

Another ballclub winning with plenty of Venezuelan flavor on the roster is the Milwaukee Brewers. Yesterday they hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field and ground out a tight 4-2 victory. And even though Luis Lara and Jackson Chourio were in the starting lineup, it was William Contreras who did the heavy lifting at the dish. In the bottom of the sixth with nobody on, William absolutely crushed an 89 MPH slider, sending it 400 feet over the center field wall. The sound off the bat was unreal and the vibrations from that moonshot filled the air, marking one of the most majestic jacks we've ever seen him launch. As the saying goes, he hit the absolute crap out of it. And of course, the W marked their 71st win of the campaign, making them the only squad in the majors to hit that milestone. Keep it moving.
