Youth and experience / Juventud y experiencia (eng-esp)

Hello, friends of Holos & Lotus.
Yesterday I was talking to you about the need to listen to and heed adults, since we are the ones who know the most about many subjects. In that regard, we have an advantage over young people.
However, as I've said before, all extremes are bad. While having a lot of experience in some subjects, due to age or profession, it's good to have several things that youth gives us, which we should also take advantage of.

That's why we should always have youth and experience at our side.

That would be ideal.

As you know, I am a guitar teacher and head teacher at the art school in my province. I'm pursuing a PhD in the arts, and my topic is about the methodology of teaching ensemble practice in the guitar field.
However, there's never a time when I find myself teaching a class or preparing a piece with young students that I don't learn something from them.

If you look closely at world history, you'll see that many, if not almost all, of the great artistic, cultural, political, or other changes were brought about by young people.

In fact, in that same research, you'll find that almost all of those who opposed these new changes and revolutions were older and narrow-minded.

What do I mean by this? While we should trust the experience and wisdom that comes with years of life and experience, sometimes this can work against us.
When we perform a task or action over and over again, repetitively or almost by rote, we can achieve the mastery we seek. So, you could say we find ourselves in a kind of comfort zone.

And once we find ourselves in this comfort zone, we rarely leave it without a fight.

For this reason, when a young person or someone with less experience than us in a certain area approaches us and suggests a change, either because, in their opinion, what we are doing isn't entirely correct or could be done better, we tend to resist.
That's normal. That's the way of the human species.

That's why we must surround ourselves and work with young people and connect, as a way of life, youth and experience.
We can't be narrow-minded.
And although in this case I'm speaking from the perspective of experience, I could also be speaking from the perspective of youth.
That's why I'm still my teacher's student and continue to consult him on everything, as if I were a student yet to graduate. Because, although I'm older than him in youth, he's still older than me in experience.

We must foster the symbiosis between youth and experience as part of our personal and professional development and advancement.

There isn't a single person or being in this universe from whom we can't learn something, at some point in our lives.

Even from mistakes or missteps, we can also learn something.

We must never lose the virtue of youth: to question everything and not be afraid to take risks and try new ways.

That is a way to escape mediocrity and grow.

Hola, amigos de Holos & Lotus.
El día de ayer les hablaba sobre la necesidad de escuchar y hacerle caso a los adultos, ya que somos los que más conocemos sobre muchos temas. En ese aspecto, aventajamos a los jóvenes.
Sin embargo, tal y como he dicho otras veces, todos los extremos son malos. Si bien tener bastante experiencia en algunos temas, por la edad o el oficio, es bueno tener varias cosas que nos da la juventudy que también tenemos que aprovechar.
Por eso siempre debemos tener junto a nosotros juventud y experiencia.
Eso sería lo ideal.

Como bien saben, soy maestra y jefa de cátedra de guitarra en la escuela de arte de mi provincia. Estoy realizando un doctorado en ciencias sobre artes y mi tema trata sobre la metodología de la enseñanza de la práctica de conjunto en la especialidad de guitarra.
Sin embargo, no hay ocasión en que me encuentre realizando una clase, o preparando una obra con jóvenes estudiantes, en que no aprenda algo de ellos.

Si revisan bien la historia universal verán que muchos, para no decir casi todos los grandes cambios artísticos, culturales, políticos o de cualquier otro tipo, fueron realizados por jóvenes.

De hecho en esa misma investigación podrán constatar que casi todos aquellos que se opusieron a estos nuevos cambios y revoluciones fueron personas mayores y de mente estrecha.

¿Con esto que quiero decir? Que si bien debemos confiar en la experiencia y la sabiduría que nos da los años de vida y el oficio, en ocasiones esto puede jugarnos en contra.
Cuando realizamos una tarea o una acción una y otra vez, de forma repetitiva o casi de memoria, podemos alcanzar la maestría que buscamos. Por lo que se podría decir que nos encontramos en una especie de zona de confort.

Y una vez que nos encontramos en esta zona de confort, pocas veces salimos de ella sin dar pelea.

Por ese motivo muchas veces cuando un joven o alguien con menos experiencia que nosotros en cierta área se nos acerca y nos propone algún cambio, ya sea porque, según esa persona, lo que estamos haciendo no es del todo correcto o puede hacerse de otra forma mejor, solemos poner resistencia.
Eso es normal. Así es la especie humana.

Por eso es que debemos rodearnos y trabajar con los jóvenes y vincular, como práctica de vida, a la juventud y a la experiencia.
No podemos ser de mente estrecha.
Y aunque en este caso me encuentre hablando desde el lado de la experiencia también podría estar y hablar, desde el lado de la juventud.
Por eso aún sigo siendo la alumna de mi maestro y le sigo consultando todo, cual y si fuera una estudiante aún sin graduar. Porque, aunque lo aventajo en juventud, él me sigue aventajando en experiencia.

Debemos fomentar la simbiosis entre juventud y experiencia como parte de nuestra desarrollo y superación personal y profesional.
No hay un solo ser o personas en este universo del que no podamos aprender algo, en algún momento de la vida.
Incluso de los errores o desaciertos también podemos extraer alguna enseñanza.
No debemos perder nunca esa virtud de los jóvenes de cuestionar todo y de no tener miedo a arriesgar y a probar formas nuevas.
Ese es un modo de escapar de la mediocridad y crecernos.
