Whoever respects you, loves you / Quien te respeta, te quiere (eng-esp)

Yesterday I was talking with my husband about a topic related to violence against women: respect.
The first thing I'm going to say on this topic is the most important: respect must be earned.

We have to demand respect, not only because we are women, but because every human being deserves respect.
On the other hand, we also have to respect ourselves to be respected.
We have to recognize that there are times when we ourselves encourage disrespect by being disrespectful.

Respect is earned in many ways. There are almost as many ways in which we can lose it. But the first and foremost way to earn respect is to respect ourselves above all else.
An artist, or a woman artist, earns respect through her work, through her art; through respecting her profession, her work, and through respecting the public.

Today, many disrespectful acts are disguised with jokes and false condescension toward us.

We cannot allow ourselves to be "relieved" of the workload or of doing certain things, so that other men can do them so that we "don't have to work."
And in that way, they take away from us and take our place.
Oh, of course, we have to be consistent with what we say and what we ask for. If in our work and in our profession we say we can do something, we have to do it.
Of course, we must first be clear about the extent of our capabilities.

By being professional, improving ourselves, displaying impeccable manners, and working hard, we earn respect and admiration by example.

We have to earn respect, admiration, and fight for our place in the world.

Nor can we allow people in positions above us to belittle us, undervalue us, or mistreat us physically, psychologically, or verbally; simply because they are in a position of power.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, justifies the lack of respect toward us, and we must be firm about this.

On many occasions, you'll want to let a lack of respect go, in order to avoid a bigger problem or an uncomfortable situation, for yourself or for others.

I've thought about it too, and I've done it.

But enough is enough. It can't be.

You can't be afraid to demand respect.

There is no greater problem than encouraging or allowing disrespect. If you allow it once, it will continue to happen in the future, again and again, until you earn respect.
From the moment you are respected, there will be no problems or uncomfortable situations, for you or your family.
Keep that in mind and you'll see.
Whoever loves you, respects you. Whoever doesn't respect you, doesn't love you.

Let's lose our fear and gain respect.

Ayer conversaba con mi esposo sobre un tema relacionado con la violencia hacia la mujer: el respeto.
Lo primero que voy a decir sobre este tema es lo más importante: el respeto hay que ganárselo.

Nosotras tenemos que hacernos respetar ,no solo por nuestra condición de mujer, sino porque todo humano merece respeto.
Por otro lado, también hay que respetar para que nos respeten.
Tenemos que reconocer que hay ocasiones en que nosotras mismas propiciamos las faltas de respeto, al irrespetar.

El respeto se gana de muchas formas. Casi la misma cantidad de formas con que podemos perderlo. Pero la primera y principal manera de hacernos respetar, es respetarnos nosotras mismas por encima de todo.
El artista, o la mujer artista, se gana el respeto con su trabajo, con su arte; respetando su profesión, su obra y respetando al público.

Hoy en día se disfrazan muchas faltas de respeto con bromas y con falsas condescendencias con nosotras.
No podemos permitir que nos “liberen” de carga de trabajo o de hacer ciertas cosas, para que la hagan otros hombres por tal de que nosotras “no pasemos trabajo”.
Y de esa manera, nos quitan y toman nuestro lugar.
Ah, claro, tenemos que ser consecuentes con lo que decimos y lo que pedimos. Sí en nuestro trabajo y en nuestra profesión decimos que podemos hacer algo, tenemos que hacerlo.
Por supuesto, primero debemos estar claras de hasta dónde llegan nuestras capacidades.

Al ser profesionales, superarnos, mostrar una educación impecable y trabajar duro, nos ganamos el respeto y admiración a fuerza de ejemplo.
Tenemos que ganarnos el respeto, admiración y pelear por nuestro lugar en el mundo.

Tampoco podemos permitir que personas en cargos superiores a nosotras, nos menosprecien, subvaloren o los maltraten física, psicológica o verbalmente; por el simple hecho de estar en alguna posición de poder.
Nada, absolutamente nada, justifica la falta de respeto hacia nosotras y en esto tenemos que ser tajantes.

En muchas ocasiones querrás dejar pasar alguna falta de respeto, por tal de evitar un problema mayor o alguna situación incómoda, para ti o para otros.
También lo he pensado y lo he hecho.

Pero ya basta. No puede ser.

No puedes tener miedo a hacerte respetar.

No hay problema mayor que propiciar o permitir la falta de respeto. Si lo permites una vez, lo seguirán haciendo en el futuro, una y otra vez, hasta que te des a respetar.
Desde el momento en que te respeten, no habrán ni problemas ni situaciones incómodas, ni para ti ni para tu familia.
Ten eso en cuenta y verás.
Quién te quiere, te respeta. Quién no te respeta, no te quiere.
Perdamos el miedo y ganemos en respeto.
