LOH237: NEGLIGENCE.
Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. It time for another trilling experience.
One of the movement I fear most was the day I was called that my dad had passed. He passed on some years ago after what I will call a serious sickness that would have been managed if the diagnosis where done earlier.
He was serving in the force and he died just few years before his retirement. That part got me more!. For anyone who is familiar with the force in my country, though it is hard to believe but I can boldly say he was one of the few that refused to be cut in the web of corruption.
Alot of people attested to this after his demise both through phone call or physical visit to either my place or the family house. What got me more was the saying that is common among my people. "Igi ti o to kii pe ni igbo"(A good person dies on time to avoid corruptions.)
He was diagnosed of high blood pressure. Though the disease did not show any visible symptoms at first but when he started seeing the symptoms like light headedness, dizziness, headache, blured vision and headache, he was talking self medications instead of seeking proper medical attention.
He will often complain of one thing or the other from time to time saying ah I wish I have the chance, I would have like to go to the hospital but I have to be at the station. After saying this I will always tell him to please see a doctor.
There was a time I had the opportunity of being at his place for a while, I insisted he see a doctor and I made sure he does. I had to insiste because he was no longer sleeping well as the headache became intensified.
On getting to the hospital his blood pressure was checked by the nurse at the reception. On seening what the blood pressure machine was reading she immediately requested for a Stecher then she turned to me saying ah sister you are literate now, what are you looking at that made you to keep him home till this movement.
In response I told the nurse that I do not live with him and I explained how I had to travel down and insisted on him seeing a doctor before returning to my base. He was given first aid while further diagnosis were been conducted while we await his results from the lab.
After few days, all the results had arrived. The doctor called me into his office to discuss my dad's health saying"madam, thank God you brought him when you did. Any further delay might have lead to death Infact your father is a strong man to have made it this far,as it is now, his case is beyond high blood pressure but it has graduated to kidney damage.
All I could do as the doctor was talking was cry because I know for sure that my dad will need support in a lot of ways that I may not be able to provide. I tried oh I really tired. He got so weak that he could no longer make the journey to the rest room. We had to place him on medications to make him poo and when he does it becomes excessive that I had to wash and clean.
What about dialysis. We do dialysis three times a month before we could no longer afford it. We considered transplant but it was not affordable at that time. After two years of serious sickness, pain and agony he passed on to glory on a Wednesday in January.
Do I miss him? Yes. Do I feel there are things I would have handled better? Yes alot but we thank God for grace. From his story i have learnt to pay attention to every of my health issues without leaving any stone unturned.
Thanks for reading till the end

Nada peor que la negligencia, pues poder hacer algo productivo y dejar de hacerlo por omisión es fatal, sobretodo en cuidados de los padres. Éxitos en el concurso. Bendiciones mil.
Hmmm, it pays to take notice of your health and go for regular visits and check ups.
May we not end up with problems that lack solution 🙏
Amen o my sister
It is so beyond me why some patients are so stubborn to go see a doctor when there is clearly something wrong. Working the job he has is stressful enough but to live with chronic high blood pressure... if the love of family could overcome his reluctance sooner but I'm sure that went through your mind too. We can't care for others, if we can't take care of ourselves first.

Thanks for sharing @ellizy ❤️👴
