It Came! 😔……..My Actifit Report Card: December 11 2025

(Edited)

I got up this morning somewhat indecisive. Should I try to go see if I could go to work or just wait? This pretty much sealed it for me.

The river was at 86.17 feet! Flood stage is 83.0 feet!😳 I texted my boss and let him know that I wasn’t going in-it was apparent that we had flooded. Last night, since he comes from the west side of Everson as he lives in Bellingham, he parked his car and walked to the town. This first shot he took was from the west side just past the clinic. The white arrow shows my workplace.

This next on was further into town just about a block to the east of the clinic.

As you can see, at that time the clinic was dry. In the end, it did flood.

The mayor of Everson stated that this flood was worse than the 2021 flood for the area. Last night as I monitored the river height which was above the 85’ level, I got curious and asked ChatGPT what was the highest level during the 2021 flood. Here’s a screenshot of the answer:

Well-we were way beyond that last night! So-back to today. Around 9:42 AM, the alarm was triggered at the clinic and as I was trying to deal with that, the doc called me. He had set it off. He’d parked a good distance away and walked to the clinic as the road was closed. We had indeed flooded. 😔 I was hoping for a miracle but knew with all the videos I’d been seeing, it was not likely to be.

@silvertop and myself decided to head towards town around 1PM just to see how bad it was.

When they put these gates up after 2021, I thought it was a waste of taxpayers money. Like we’d ever need them-right?! To get to the clinic, I travel down the road that you can’t see. Take a look at this video and listen to the roar of it-even from a distance! It’s a force of nature for sure!

There is another gate further down effectively blocking this river flow from the west side. This area is where a man perished as he was going to work because his boss demanded he get there. He was a migrant worker and didn’t want to lose his job. He lost his life instead. So sad and shame on his employer!

I zoomed in for a better look.

One lone Christmas wreath on a fence post surrounded by water while Mr. Crow finds something interesting in the mud, silt and water.

Who’s this guy, I wonder?

It’s unfortunate, but the flood made it to Sumas as well placing that town into another nightmare like they faced in 2021. We know of a guy who had just finally gotten on a list of folks to receive a grant for money to raise his house. In the interim, he had built a shop that was on a raised foundation. Ironically, we were just talking with him Sunday at church about it. So the repaired home he was living in is now devastated once again! So sad for all of the residents of the Everson, Nooksack and Sumas areas.

All of the western side of Washington state is being destroyed by floods right now. So many in need; so many hurting and so much loss. 😢

That’s it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV 1 Corinthians 15:20-28

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

It is sad for sure. So many were still transitioning from the 2021 flood as the wheels of bureaucracy move ever so slow. Please pray for the people sis; they so need all they can get.

I had been thinking of you two and wondering how things were going your way. So sad Everson and Sumas have all flooded again. 🙁 And your work! Stressful at all times of the year, but especially now when people should just be focused on family and the holidays. Hope the rain ends and the water drops soon.

Thank you @dfinney! The water is receding; the clinic is a mess; our home is safe as we are just above the valley. There are still blessings in this chaos, as we are finding.

Thank you for thinking of us. Take care and have a lovely day!🤗🎄❤️😍😘 !LADY

This is so sad! I never knew flood affected regions like yours, at least not this deeply. I've never even heard of it.

I'm so sorry, Liz. To think someone lost his life to this disaster that's slowly creeping just before Christmas makes it more terrible to think of. My prayers are with the family, and yours too! Thankful you have a considerate boss in a time like this. Do stay safe. Hugs.🤗

Thank you so much @yechee! I didn't think we'd see another flood like the 2021 one, but we did, and just before Christmas to add heartbreak to the situation! It's all got to do with the river needing to be dredged and some of the powers that be, do not want to 'harm' the salmon who spawn in it. It's a huge political deal and while all involved entities try to figure it out, the people of the county are subjected to catastrophes like this more often. So sad.

Thank you for your kind words! Take care and enjoy your day!🤗🎄

Wow! The city has got to do something about the flooding! Perhaps widen and go deeper on the "canal" and clean them?
Take care, sis!!!

Yes, that would solve the problem I believe, but unfortunately, the tribe in the area are looking out for fish rather than human life and property. It makes no sense, especially when in the late summer when the salmon run, they are dying as the water is too hot and many lay dead along the shore! How is that looking out for the fish exactly? If they deepened the channel as they used to, the water would be the right temperature for them AND it should solve the flooding issue. Back 30-ish years ago, they did dredge, but seeing as how everyone thinks the fish need saving, well, it becomes the county, the cities, the tribes agendas, as no one can agree to anything! It's maddening! Until all entities agree to SOMETHING to fix this, it will remain a threat and a mess when it happens! Ugh!!!

Thanks for listening to my rant sis! Much love to ya! 🤗🎄❤️😍😘
