Greetings holo-friends.

With the drawing that I share with you today I understood that sometimes the simplest things are the ones that make us make mistakes. It turns out that with this drawing I wanted to make a tribute to a drawing of Fally of my own authorship, but which is made in traditional format on paper. Here you can see which one I'm referring to.

Well, the thing is that I changed several aspects of the drawing so that it was not a copy of the previous one, but without realizing I used a smaller resolution than I usually use and that brought me some complications, which you will know later in the step by step.

Con el dibujo que les comparto hoy comprendí que a veces las cosas más simples son las que hacen que cometamos errores. Resulta ser que con este dibujo me propuse hacerle un homenaje a un dibujo de Fally de mi propia autoría, pero que está hecho en formato tradicional sobre papel. Aquí podrán ver a cuál me refiero.

Bueno, el caso es que cambié varios aspectos del dibujo para que no fuese una copia del anterior, pero sin darme cuenta utilicé una resolución más pequeña de la que suelo utilizar y eso me trajo algunas complicaciones, las cuales conocerán más adelante en el paso a paso.

Step by step // Paso a paso

My idea is to create the silhouette of a bird with realistic features inspired by the shape of falcons, but with Fally's color design. Obviously, at the end I will leave the references I used for the shape of the bird.

Mi idea es crear la silueta de un ave con características realistas inspiradas en la forma de los halcones, pero con el diseño de colores de Fally. Obviamente, al final dejaré las referencias que utilicé para la forma del ave.

With the sketch created, I complete the line art by applying details to the plumage of the head, chest and wings. Then I add some details to the legs and tail.

Con el boceto creado, complemento el line art aplicando detalles al plumaje de la cabeza, el pecho y las alas. Luego paso a agregar algunos detalles en las patas y la cola.

On a new blank layer, I start coloring using as a sample the exact colors of Fally's original design. This time I did take into account that some characteristics of this creature differ a lot from any existing design, since its claws are light colored and it has a black patch of plumage covering part of its face.

As for the background, the procedure was much simpler, as I only had to create a new blank layer and draw a scaled pattern of three different colors, separated from each other by non-linear shapes. Normally, I use a simple gradient, but this time I decided to try this puzzle piece style.

En una nueva capa en blanco, comienzo a dar color utilizando como muestra los colores exactos del diseño original de Fally. En esta ocasión sí tuve en cuenta que algunas características de esta criatura difieren mucho de cualquier diseño existente, ya que sus garras son de color claro y tiene una mancha negra de plumaje que cubre parte de su cara.

En cuanto al fondo, el proceder fue mucho más sencillo, ya que solo tuve que crear una nueva capa en blanco y dibujar un patrón en escala de tres colores distintos, separados entre sí por formas no lineales. Normalmente, utilizo un degradado simple, pero esta vez decidí probar este estilo tipo piezas de rompecabezas.

Next, I begin to add the details of illumination and shadows, orienting them from right to left and from top to bottom. In this way, the reflections are located in the area of the nape of the neck, back and right wing.

The shadows will occupy the opposite side, being more marked in areas such as the neck, the end of the wings and the shadow cast by the bird on the branch.

A continuación, comienzo a agregar los detalles de iluminación y sombras, orientándolas de derecha a izquierda y de arriba a abajo. De esta forma, quedan ubicados los reflejos en la zona de la nuca, espalda y ala derecha.

Las sombras ocuparán el lado contrario, estando más marcadas en zonas como el cuello, la terminación de las alas y la sombra que proyecta el ave sobre la rama.

Finally, I export the image in PNG format for my phone and from the gallery I apply remastering and color enhancement filters. Additionally, I use the SnapEdit tool to increase the image resolution, because remember the problem I told you about? Well, it turns out that the traces of the breast plumage when exporting the image had some imperfections, called sawtooths. Fortunately, this is solved by increasing the image resolution a little.

Para finalizar, exporto la imagen en formato PNG para mi teléfono y desde la galería le aplico filtros de remasterización y acentuación de colores. Adicionalmente, utilizo la herramienta SnapEdit para aumentar la resolución de la imagen, porque ¿recuerdan el problema que les había dicho? Pues resulta que los trazos del plumaje del pecho al exportar la imagen se veían con algunas imperfecciones, llamadas dientes de sierra. Por suerte, esto se soluciona aumentando un poco la resolución de la imagen.
