My First Taste of Beer

Growing into adult, I've acquired a strong will and determination not to consume alcohol under any pressure or situation that I may find myself in. Even if I'm the only one in a room who's not consuming beer, I'd never blink or let it affect me. I lived out life like that through school and many hang outs with friends.

However yesterday change everything. My brother got married and I had the duty of sharing the family members with drinks. Not only was it my family members, but my relatives also including my immediate family members and even people I had never even set eyes on. They all attended the ceremony and, as is usual, whoever shares the food or drink has to be willing to definitely eat or drink it. It's a noble deed, especially within the family.

Since I had already shared drinks to the rest of my family, It was my turn to take one for myself. At​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ first, I never wanted to touch it. I was considering giving it to someone else, or trashing it when I get home. As I sat down tonight and thought about the day and asked myself why not. Let me try it out for the first time.

I grabbed the Goldberg Premium Lager can, as it's still half-frozen, questioning whether I should. The taste was so appealing, so hygienic. So I consumed it, and it was okay. I don't know if it was the excitement of having, finally, to break my ultimate long-acquired self-discipline or the excitement of something new, but it was definitely a nice experience.

It was in that instant that I realized it had nothing to do with the beer whatsoever, but enjoying the moment, having family with you, and realizing that sometimes tradition will lead you where you hadn't meant to find pleasure. I felt something as I had my first sip. It was a taste of pleasure, and thinking of it as something I'd always held at arm's length, but now everything just felt right.

Life is experience. And so, sitting there quietly raising a toast to my brother and his new path with my can, I knew it's alright to bend your rules every now and then for good.
