Graffiti: the same struggle and the same question—is it art or vandalism?

Greetings to all my brothers who are part of the guest author and all of us here building on the blockchain.

Today I want to share this photograph, which was taken a decade ago. It is living, concrete proof that I have been involved in this urban culture of graffiti for more than a decade.

As you well know, graffiti was commonly used as a form of expression, protest, etc. However, after some time in the early days of hip hop, it became totally associated with gang representation, among other things. Currently, graffiti is not far from this, as different crews or teams of graffiti artists continue to form, competing for who owns the streets, who can paint the most difficult place to access, the highest place, and above all, taking into account the difficulty of their style, lettering, and application.

Many times I ask myself the same question: will I ever stop? Will I ever improve? Will I change my style and try to do something a little more artistic and less vandalistic, something that could be a little more commercialized? But at the end of the day, believe me, this excitement and passion I have for graffiti sometimes boils down to simply drawing a line with spray paint on a wall, a moment of freedom and personal struggle, as you control your pulse, your tension, and above directs all your attention and energy to a single point. I think that for me, this is a fundamental element of graffiti: total freedom.

• Here I am going to share some other screenshots, simply to give you an idea of how much graffiti I have done.

That screenshot showing the beginning was taken from Facebook, but I know that if you have seen some of my work before, you can get an idea of the graffiti history I have been building over the last 10 years, although I have actually been doing graffiti for 15 years, but we are reducing it to a decade since that is when the aforementioned photo was taken.
