Likening Tribal tokens to shares of a company is definitely appropriate... as long as the tribe isn't going overboard with issuing insane number of tokens; in the traditional stock markets, I believe they call it "dilution."

I just wish more of the people starting Tribes had at least a semblance of a business plan, or purpose.
