Jupiler League Week 3 Sunday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

As sold Friday was, as poor that Satruday was. This not so much because I made bad calls, but more because variance made things play out not the way I hoped. I'm still up on the week and haq quite the juicy crypto betting win so I'm good going into Sunday where there are only 2 matches.

Lommel vs Westerlo

Lommel is a promoted sister team of Manchester City and they took a flattering 1-1 draw in the first week away against Stvv. In the start of that match, they showed willingness to have the ball and take initiative actually playing better football while the chances were for Sint-Truiden. They managed to get the 0-1 on a penalty and what followed was 1-way traffic for Stvv. In their home match against Charleroi it were the visitors who were more willing to go forward and Lommel just showed way too weak offensively to get something going. Only in the last minutes of the match when they were 0-1 behind they started pushing a bit and that match ended in 2-12 corners. So overall, Lommel only briefly showed that they are willing to play forward but this dropped once they had the mead and also when they played against the better team. They only scored from a penalty and no counting that, their xg was 072 & 0.34 which sits along with La Louviere and Kortrijk at the bottom. Westerlo so far this season have played against 2 top teams. They saw a lot of good players leave and are rebuilding pretty much. Against Union they started with 6 new players in the team. They played an ok 1st half even though Union who were not convincing were better. That first half was super efficient on a 1-1 score despite the 0.27-0.47xg. In the 2nd half, they totally lost it and ended up losing 1-5 showing that they still have a lot of work despite only 1.79xg against. In Week 2, they played against Genk who again yesterday showed that they have massive problems in the defense. They started well and thanks to the poor Genk defense got 0-2 ahead. However, similar to the week before, they played a horrible 2nd half and still lost that match with a 3-2 score. So we have Lommel who haven't really managed to create much against Westerlo who played 2 top teams giving it away each time in the 2nd half getting a total of 8 goals against. I do see Westerlo as a team that likely will just slowly improve week by week. Their high goal count also some from the fact that they played top teams and were not ready yet. I kind of feel like the total line is set a bit too high but at the same time don't feel fully confident to go all out on the under. So I split between these bets: 0.1 unit on 1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.884, 0.1 unit on Lommel Team Total Under 1.25 @ 2.00, & 0.1 unit on Under 3 @ 1.970. Lommel got crushed in their matches on the corners especially when they took the lead while Westerlo in both against top teams managed to create 4. So depending on the situation in the match, I'm also looking at the Westerlo Corners handicap but without any interest pre-game in that.

Club Brugge vs Cercle Brugge

Club Brugge is a really tricky team when it comes down to betting as they haven't reached a good level of play yet even though they won both their matche with an easy 3-0 score. It's not that they played bad, it's more that playing at 50% seems to be enough for them to get the job done at least against poor rather poor teams (Kortrijk & Leuven) who both could have scored against them. So opposing Club Brugge is not an option, while at the same time I'm not confortable with the high lines even though they are able to beat them still if they don't even play that well. The thing that was very remarkable in the match against OHL is that they got a crazy amount of corners but didn't do anything with them. In previous years they kind of slowed down once they got the lead but now it looks like they just continue. Cercle Brugge took a flattering 2-2 draw against Standard in a match where they did not create much but were very efficient on their chances. In week 2 they played a 3-3 match against Stvv where they instantly got 0-1 behind but were the better team afterward with the stvv goalkeeper as the best player. Eventually they managed to come back from 1-3 behind and had 4.15xg which feels like an exagerrated number. Basically, when it comes down to Club Brugge, all I can hope for is that they somehow fall behind, have a bad sloppy period in the match and at some point when the line is much better need to get things in gear to still crush the opponent. In most scenarios though, they will be just too strong from the start and it's getting to a situation where all the opponents start the match knowing in advance that they are going to lose. So at this point, I feel my hands are tied and I choose to stay away. No Pre-Game Bets

"In week 2 they played a 3-3 match against Stvv where they in..." es una observación válida, y no muchos la hacen.
