Jupiler League Week 3 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, and injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

It was Solid Friday also becaause the crypto bets with somewhat elevated stakes ended up as winners. There are 3 matches on Saturday and 2 on Sunday that are still on the schedule, so here it goes for the ones today...

Zulte-Waregem vs Beveren

Zulte-Waregem had a good start against 2 difficult teams making a comeback after falling behind against Genk who showed poor drive overall. Stary started the match playing on the counter but were willing to take initiative afterward at the same time only creating 0.51xg in that match. Last week away against Union, they also played on the counter and created 1.15xg in a match that ended in a 0-0 score whowing that they are an ok team. In fact, they should have won that match as a correct goal was disallowed. Beveren so far played an ok match against Antwerp who came back out of nowhere. They also showed good things at home against Anderlecht where they managed to make the early 1-0 succesfully defending that score not giving too much again against an Anderlecht who lacked the drive. So basically these are 2 start who took good points in the first weeks and also showed rather unexpected good signs. The over line feels like it's set just a bit too high on 2 teams who have shown quite capable on defense while they don't look like they both have that easy of a time to score goals. I took 0.3 units on Under 2.75 @ 1.970 and 0.1 unit on 1st Half Under 1 @ 2.260. I do expect them both kind of willing to go forward butnot with the needed risk or quality while being very aware not to get a counter against. If beveren takes the lead, I likely will side with Zulte-Waregem on the corners as Beveren lost those 1-12 at home against Anderlecht while Zulte in a similar situation coming from behind won 6-3 from Genk.

Charleroi vs Kv Mechelen

I did not expect too much from Charleroi since some of their better players left, but they have so far managed to put up 2 solid perfrmances. In the match against Charleroi there were 2 teams willing to go forward, somehow the red card of OHL kind of paralized Charleroi right after where they took a goal against but in the 2nd half against 10 they just showed too strong and won with 3-1. Last week away against Lommel they missed quite some players but gave pretty much nothing away while they were willing to go forward to eventually score the deserved 0-1. Mechelen on the other hand has been arguably the weakest team in the league. They sam multiple players leave and still suffor quite some injuries which leaves them searching at the moment. Against AA Gent they were just weak and not ready yet taking a deserved 2-0 wil with the key player Van Brederode complaining in the post match interview that the board needs to buy more quality. At home against Standard they were the weaker team overall and always should have lost if it wasn't for a miraculous 3-3 with 2 late penalties for them. So Mechelen at the moment are kind of on my list of teams to opppose and Charleroi on my list of teams to back. Off course only at the right price and a -0.75 home favorite line just is a bit too much. I do expect Charleroi to be the team who takes the initiative and pushes forward and Mechelen to lure on the counter. I took just 0.2 units on Charleroi 1st Half -0.25 @ 1.839 and I'm also leaning toward the Charleroi 1t Half Corners.

Antwerp vs Genk

Antwerp based on what they showed at the end of last season and the limited changes in the team mostly playing with yougsters was a team high on my list to oppose but somehow they took 6 on 6 in the first 2 matches. Their thing is that they aim to play more forward especially at home. That is what they did at the start in their first match against Waasland but it was nog good enough and they got 0-1 behind. The 1-1 kind of came out of nowhere in the 2nd half which light the spark for them to continue and eventually get the late 2-1 for a close win. In the 2nd week they played away against Kortrijk and were overly efficient scoring 3 goal. This week, they lost one of the better players in their team Ahoka which could have an influence on their performance. I still kind of see them as a team that still has to grow a lot over multiple years but at the same time don't want to neglect the home advantage and the positive vibe they are on after an exagerrated 6 on 6. Genk started the season just super poor and dissapointing as they showed zero drive in the first match away against Zulte. Their weakness remains the defense which was shown against against Westerlo last week. They did manage to stand up and eventually go from 0-2 down to a 3-2 win but against showed that they might have a hard time to keep clean sheets. They do have a team with lots of technical qualities and I won't easily oppose them this season since top teams who don't play in Europe tend to beat the asian handicaps over the course of a season. Pretty much all bets that I'm leaning on Genk -0.25 / Genk team Total Over / Over / Genk 1H Corners hand no rush to them so I'm just going to wait and see what the early match picture looks like before possibly getting in.
