Hey, guess what.... It's football season! No, not that game with the black and white ball that the rest of the world has been fixed upon for most of the summer. I'm talking about good old fashioned American football. The real football. Pigskin, grid iron, bone crunching, juking, one handed catching, epic field goal kicking football.
Are you ready? Are you excited? I sure am.
I think what's even better than that fact that the NFL preseason has started is the addition that college football is right around the corner. I mean, I love the NFL, but I LOVE college football. It's one of the greatest things on this Earth. Well, after my wife, family, music, camping, BBQ, just trust me, it's awesome!
So the NFL preseason started this week and the Detroit Lions had a game last night down in Cincinnati against the Bengals. It wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, but this is the preseason. Does it really matter? Most of the teams don't even play half their starters in these games. It's a lot like watching a high school team or junior college squad head out on the field. It's still exciting though!
The final score was Cincy 16, Detroit 14. At least they kept it close. We are going to need a good roster and a healthy bench if we are hoping to make it far this season. Things have kind of fallen apart the past few years as injuries have plagued the Lions.
There were a few other NFL preseason games last night too.
The Steelers took down the Packers 28 to 9, The Colts and the Patriots tied at 13 a piece, and the Chargers beat the Texans 27 to 7.
Finally, the Cardinals beat the Raiders 27 to 14, and The Titans edged past the 49'ers 19 to 13.
We have games today and tomorrow too. If you can even find them. I tried to find the Lions game last night, but I wasn't able to find it on any of the streaming services that I looked at. According to The Score, it looks like it may have not even been broadcast.
Don't worry though, even if you missed the games yesterday, we are just getting started. There is a whole lot of football in store for us over the next seven months or so!

Seeing an NFL preseason game on TV at the gym and I was like WTF happened to summer. I told a friend here back in May that this summer wasn't going to be that fun for me.
Yeah, it's hard to believe school is starting back up in a week or two. We are still rushing around trying to get ready. Before we know it the football season will be half over!
It started back up here and i was just shaking my head.
